Destiny 2’s Dawning 2024 Controversy Explained
Destiny 2 is facing yet another controversy before the end of the year, this time caused by the Dawning event and its implementation.
In the meantime, the weekend merchant Xur is back with a new inventory of gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of December 13, 2024.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar area inside The Tower, so there’s no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar is located between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur’s Exotic Armor
Sunbracers – Warlock gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
- Helium Spirals – Increases the duration of Solar Grenades. Solar melee kills grant unlimited Solar Grenade energy for a brief time.
While this exotic used to be incredibly strong, Bungie has since nerfed it a bit this year. However, it’s still a very strong option in PvE activities for Solar Warlocks thanks to being able to unleash waves of solar grenades.
Stat Values (65 Total):
- Mobility +3
- Resilience +11
- Recovery +19
- Discipline +6
- Intellect +20
- Strength +6
Lucky Pants – Hunter leg armor
Exotic Perk:
- Illegally Modded Holster – Improves sprint, slide, and airborne effectiveness while a Hand Cannon is equipped. For a short time after being drawn, Hand Cannons ready faster, are more accurate, and each hit against a combatant increases Hand Cannon damage.
The highest roll this week belongs to the Hunter’s Lucky Pants, a hand cannon specific exotic. For those that don’t use that type of weapon, these are not worth picking up. However, for those that do, these are worth a look for the bonuses it provides in PvP and PvE activities.
Stat Values (68 Total):
- Mobility +23
- Resilience +11
- Recovery +2
- Discipline +12
- Intellect +6
- Strength +14
Armamentarium – Titan chest armor
Exotic Perk:
- And Another Thing – Gain an additional grenade charge. Grenade final blows spawn an Orb of Power.
A solid if unremarkable exotic that grants a second grenade charge and can spawn Orbs of Power. Useful in all activities.
Stat Values (65 total):
- Mobility +10
- Resilience +14
- Recovery +12
- Discipline +11
- Intellect +6
- Strength +12
