24 Secret Side Quests Everyone Missed In The Witcher 3
There’s a lot for players to do in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, making it necessary to learn all about the hidden side quests not everyone knows about.
In this list, we will showcase several reasons why Ciri is the perfect choice for the protagonist of The Witcher 4. From her martial training in Kaer Morhen to the canonical events that turn her into the perfect Witcher to inherit Geralt’s mantle as a monster hunter.
6 She Was Trained By Vesemir Himself
Geralt Only Told Her The Basics. His Mentor Did The Rest
During The Blood of Elves, the fourth book of The Witcher’s chronology, Cirilla is brought to Kaer Morhen by Geralt to keep her safe from those who wish to do her harm. But the girl quickly proves to be more than a couple of old Witchers can handle, and none other but Vesemir, the eldest of them all, takes her under his wing.
Uncle Vesemir is a master monster hunter and a powerful Witcher who has trained generations of Wolves for over a century. He was one of the few survivors from the Wolf School right before it was burnt to the ground by a pogrom organized by some wicked wizards. So he knows his stuff, and consequently, Ciri has inherited a lot of first-hand knowledge about the darkest and most dangerous creatures that inhabit The Northern Realms and beyond. She is the natural heir of the Wolf School.
5 She Has Deep Ties To The Witcher World’s Lore
Ciri Is The True Protagonist Of The Witcher Saga
Cirilla of Cintra is not your over-the-mill character that has been picked randomly by the producers of The Witcher 4 to play a key role in the story. As a matter of fact, she is the true protagonist of the saga, she always has been. A chosen child of the Old Blood, that would bring salvation (or death) to the world, a Child of Surprise, bound by fate to one of the most prominent Witchers in the story of the Northern Realms.
Her participation in the events of all the games (even though she wasn’t present in The Witcher 1 and 2) has set the stage for her taking the main role of the story. And to be honest, after three games playing with Geralt, this could be a welcomed change for many fans.
4 CD Projekt Red Planned Her Role In Advance
The Ending Of The Witcher 3 Left The Door Open For Her
During certain parts of The Witcher 3, players could witness first-hand what Ciri is capable of as a Witcher. There are various missions where we control her as a character, and we can even see her do some Witcher-like work in these small sections of the game. So, it is true that CD Projekt RED was planning her involvement in the next iteration of the series years ago.

Most Witcher quests are quick and simple, but some pursuits are epic in scope. Whether main or side, these are the longest quests in The Witcher 3.
It was only natural that Ciri would make a great candidate for taking the lead role in the saga. In The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine we witness Geralt taking his well-deserved retirement with a happy ending in Corvo Bianco, his own vineyard in the magical land of Touissant. Will Ciri go back and visit her now-retired Witcher father? Only time will tell.
3 The Extent Of Her Powers Hasn’t Been Revealed Yet
She Could End The World If She Wanted To
As the Lady of Time and Space, Ciri is able to control powerful ancient magic that even the Aen Aelle (the ancient Elves) covet and are willing to kill for. Perhaps, what drove her to embrace the Trial of The Herbs and become a full-fledged Witcher was related to them constantly harassing her, even after Eredin Breacc Glas’ defeat in The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.
Little is known about the full extent of her powers, but she is well able to cross-dimensional breaches into new worlds with the sole power of her will. That, even for a seasoned mage like Raffard the White was challenging and nearly exhausting. Elven Navigators required hundreds of energy vessels and hard sacrifices in order to open portals. It means that she is well grown up and able to take care of herself now, and the intro video was meant to showcase just that. But was that the full extent of her abilities? We will have to wait for the gameplay reveal and see what CD Projekt RED has been cooking for years.
2 As Geralt Did, Cirilla Cares For The People
Like Father, Like Daughter
Ciri seems to have inherited more than Geralt’s clinical character, as it is proven in the trailer, it cannot escape the attention of fans the similarities between The Witcher 3 and Witcher 4 reveal cutscenes. In both cases, we see a parallelism between two injustice acts, and a character talks to Ciri (and Geralt) about leaving things as they are.

The Witcher 3: The 16 Most Difficult Boss Fights, Ranked
Geralt comes up against many difficult foes during The Witcher 3, but here are the toughest of them all, ranked.
But we all know that Geralt raised her better than that, so the ending of the trailer might be more revealing of Ciri’s character than anything that has happened prior to the fall to black. We heard the characteristic noise of swords unsheathing, and the words of Ciri “There’s no Gods here, only monsters,” are a testament to how the events of The Witcher 3 have molded her into a seeker of justice and defender of the oppressed.
1 The Reasons Why She Became A Witcher
She Has Become Much More Than Just A Princess In Distress
When audiences first meet Ciri, she is running away for her dear life, and Geralt finds her nearly dead in a cabin in an isolated place. Then, she joins forces with his father and Yennefer to bring the fight back to Eredin and his crew of specter-like elves. After that, the progression of the character is powerful and compelling no matter what choices the players take alongside the final stages of The Witcher 3. We know that she has taken the medallion of the Wolf that once belonged to Vesemir, but in the trailer, we also see she has become a full-fledged Witcher now, complete with cat-like eyes.
What happened to her to make that drastic choice? Fans of Sapkowski’s books might know that Ciri’s blood is coveted by mages and dark sorcerers all over the known Realms, and perhaps even after beating Eredin, her main pursuer, she felt the need to stop them once and for all. Then she decided to undergo the Trial of the Herbs and become a true Witcher, abandoning her humanity and tainting her blood so others don’t try to get their hands on her anymore. It would make sense to carry on the story from there on, and it would be the perfect plot catalyst to spark the conflict in The Witcher 4.
