Warframe 1999 Launches Friday With Guns, Motorcycles, And Killer Y2K-Bots

The next chapter in Warframe, Warframe 1999, got a slick new trailer during The Game Awards. Set during the eve of the new millennium, this new quest will introduce new characters, new mission types, a fully voiced line of transforming cosmetic skins, as well as Cyte-09, the 59th Warframe. It’ll be available across all supported platforms starting December 13.

Developer Digital Extremes first teased Warframe 1999 earlier this year, and this new TGA trailer showcased six Protoframe members of The Hex as they defend the city of Höllvania from the Scaldra army and Techrot infestation. In addition to more gameplay, Digital Extremes’ Rebecca Ford revealed that the new content includes more characters to romance, a soundtrack that’ll be available both digitally and physically, and plenty of Easter eggs for ’90s kids.

Warframe 1999 also introduces a new vehicle mount–the Atomicycle–that is capable of drifting, bullet-jumping, and working as an impromptu bomb when you hurl it into a mob of enemies.

The new Cyte-09 Warframe also looks like an interesting addition to player arsenals thanks to the way it can take advantage of enemy weakness. Players can place scanners that allow them to see and shoot enemies through walls, drop elemental ammo packs, use cloaking tech, and summon a powerful sniper rifle called the Neutralizer. This weapon is equipped with ricocheting bullets and a freezing grenade launcher, and in the wild, players can pick up the new assault rifle, Reconifex, and the secondary pistol, Vesper 77.

Digital Extreme has even added a minigame called Caliber Chicks 2, an original ’90s-inspired side-scroller action game designed in partnership with Sumo Digital. Additionally, new cosmetics feature a high degree of customization. Players can also expect several quality-of-life improvements like light reworks for Trinity and Nyx, increased capacity for weapon and Warframe slots, and the removal of Mastery Rank Test cooldowns on failed attempts.
