There were plenty of interesting announcements at the 2024 Game Awards, from Sifu developer Sloclap announcing a stylish-looking soccer game called Rematch to Borderlands 4 giving players their first look at the game’s main antagonist. However, the biggest TGA 2024 announcements sent shockwaves of excitement rippling throughout the gaming industry, with sequels, spin-offs, and new IPs aplenty.

Here are all the winners in every category for The Game Awards 2024.
8 Dispatch
A Choice-Based Comedy from Former Telltale Devs
The reveal trailer for Dispatch is only a couple of minutes long, yet in this short time, it gives potential players a pretty good idea of what they can expect. It’s clear that a lot of care and attention has gone into the game, both when it comes to the hilarious writing and the top-notch voice acting. With an all-star cast that includes Aaron Paul and Laura Bailey, Dispatch has the potential to be a surprise hit when it releases on PC and consoles in 2025.
7 Project Robot
A New Sci-Fi Game from Fumito Ueda
From the man behind iconic games like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, Project Robot looks set to be another incredible adventure. Not much is given away during the reveal trailer and the game still doesn’t have an official title, but based on some of Fumito Ueda’s previous titles, players can expect a game that’s full of innovation and intrigue. Of course, when exactly they can expect it remains a mystery at this point in time.
6 Virtua Fighter
The First 3D Fighting Franchise Returns
Yu Suzuki’s Virtua Fighter is one of the most influential fighting game franchises of all time, having helped the genre make the leap into 3D back in the early nineties. Almost two decades have passed since the series’ last mainline installment, but that hasn’t stopped fans from asking Sega for a sequel. Sadly, Yu Suzuki won’t be involved with the newly announced Virtua Fighter game, but with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio at the helm, many will feel that the series is in good hands.
5 Okami Sequel
A Match Made in Heaven
Okami 2
- Developer(s)
- Clover Studio
Okami is a cult classic and one of the best games from the PS2 era. With that in mind, the fact that gamers have had to wait the best part of two full decades for news of a sequel is somewhat baffling, to say the least. It’s this long wait that makes the Okami sequel one of the biggest announcements from The Game Awards 2024. The fact that the original game’s director Hideki Kamiya will be returning for the sequel helps to further amp up the excitement.
4 Split Fiction
A New Co-Op Adventure from a Multiplayer Master
Action
Adventure
Sci-Fi
Fantasy
- Released
- March 6, 2025
- Publisher(s)
- Electronic Arts
Josef Fares has been responsible for some of the best co-op multiplayer games of all time. With that in mind, couch co-op lovers will definitely want to mark March 6 in their diaries, as that’s when Hazelight’s next multiplayer masterpiece will be arriving. Game Rant’s Editor in Chief has already had a chance to preview Split Fiction and was thoroughly impressed by the game’s boundless creativity and the team behind it’s out-of-the-box design philosophy.
3 The Witcher 4
Ciri Steps up in CD Projekt Red’s Upcoming Witcher Game
Although players already knew that a new single-player Witcher game was currently in development prior to the 2024 Game Awards, up until now, it had neither an official name nor a confirmed playable protagonist. CD Projekt Red’s cinematic trailer for The Witcher 4 provided both. As many had predicted, players will take control of fan-favorite character Ciri, who seems to have grown quite a bit since the end of the original trilogy.
2 Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
A New Naughty Dog Adventure
Naughty Dog has made no secret of the fact that the studio has been hard at work on a new IP, yet information about the previously untitled project was fairly scarce leading up to the Game Awards. The reveal trailer for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet changed all that though, and would seem to suggest that players have an incredible sci-fi adventure to look forward to. The game has apparently been in development since 2020, although there’s still no word on when exactly players can expect to get their hands on it.
1 Elden Ring Nightreign
A Co-Op Multiplayer Spin-Off that Few People Saw Coming
The fact that Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was nominated in the Best Game category raised quite a few eyebrows, but not nearly as many as the reveal trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign. It was arguably the biggest announcement to come out of the 2024 Game Awards and helped to get the ceremony off to an emphatic bang. Tarnished who are eager to dive back into The Lands Between won’t have to wait too long either, with the co-op multiplayer spin-off scheduled for release at some point in 2025.
