Bandai Namco has announced the upcoming re-release of their Sword Art Online-based MMORPG, Sword Art Online Variant Showdown, following a maintenance break of over a year. The game underwent this temporary shutdown to fix all the bugs and was initially expected to return this summer.
After addressing all the bugs, Sword Art Online Variant Showdown is finally making a return
For those unaware or unfamiliar with the game, Sword Art Online Variant Showdown is an action MMORPG set in the SAO universe, that was originally launched on November 22, 2022. The game offers real-time PvP battles, story quests divided into Main stories, Side Stories, and Extra Stories, limited-time quests, avatar customization, three-character party-based battles, ability cards, and more.
However, players encountered numerous in-game bugs due to the game’s underlying systems, even the Gacha system had issues, among other issues. As a result, the devs announced an extended maintenance break starting from September 28, 2023, to redevelop the game’s underlying systems, and deliver a polished, bug-free version for fans.
The good news is that the devs have finally announced via X (formerly known as Twitter) and YouTube, about the upcoming re-release of the game, although it was supposed to return this summer. According to the announcement, Sword Art Online Variant Showdown is making its comeback very soon on both Android and iOS.
