Dinosaur Eggs are a fairly rare item overall, and a coveted one at that, since players can incubate the egg on their farm and hatch a small dinosaur. Needless to say, Stitchlover5 was extremely excited to have their pet hand over a Dinosaur Egg of all things. Some players noted that they’ve also been lucky enough to get a Dinosaur Egg from their pet, while others expressed envy.



Getting a Dinosaur Egg from a Pet is No Easy Feat

There are a number of factors taken into account when it comes to getting a Dinosaur Egg in Stardew Valley from one’s pet. To start, players have to have a dog, as neither the cats nor turtles can yield this particular prize. Once a dog is acquired, players have to reach max friendship with them by petting them and watering them daily. At that point, odds some into the equation, with pets having a 20% chance to drop a random item from a pool when petted. The Dinosaur Egg is one of the rarest items a dog can give a player, with only a 0.28% chance of it being dropped.
