Summary
- Hollow Knight: Silksong and Bloodborne were hopeful ahead of The Game Awards this year, but that hope has been thoroughly crushed.
- The Game Awards 2024 did not bring any long-awaited news, leaving fans disappointed and frustrated once again.
- Silksong fans are depressed, while also slightly angry at Team Cherry, as well as Bloodborne fans too. I weep for you if you’re a fan of both.
Hollow Knight: Silksong and Bloodborne fans are almost kindred spirits, in that they’re both sets of people constantly waiting and praying for something involving their favorite game. It could be an announcement, release date, trailer, or even a minor update, but these fanbases have been left in the dark and tormented for so long that they’ve almost given up hope.
The Game Awards 2024 was supposed to finally change that though. There was unprecedented hype going into the show, with insiders hinting at massive announcements, and Silksong fans raised their hopes once again. Meanwhile, Bloodborne fans already had raised hopes following mysterious server maintenance and what many perceived to be a teaser included in PlayStation’s 30th anniversary video celebration.
The Wait For Hollow Knight: Silksong And Bloodborne Goes On
Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be, as while there were plenty of massive announcements at The Game Awards, there was no sign of Silksong or Bloodborne. Now that the dust has settled, fans of both games have once again taken to their respective subreddits to air their grievances and share in their joint depression, such as Reddit user Holy-Wan Kenobi who just started begging Team Cherry for any kind of communication.
Another fan pointed out that both Elden Ring and an Elden Ring spinoff are going to launch before we get even a sniff of Hollow Knight: Silksong, while another more agitated fan called ShinyChespin took to the subreddit to claim that developer Team Cherry “doesn’t deserve their fan base”. Ouch.
Bloodborne fans were also out in full force on their subreddit, their persistence very much running out. A user called Lachoprime simply shared a picture of a Hunter with a clown nose, representing how pretty much every Bloodborne fan must be feeling right now, while other users in the replies are simply commenting “I’m gonna neck myself” and “It’s so bloodover”.
All we can do now is look to the next big event, which will likely be a showcase by one of the three big platform holders, and apply our clown makeup once again in the hopes that either of them actually show up. As for right now, we can just attempt to push our depression down, maybe rewatch the Silksong reveal trailer to feel something again, and take solace in the fact that at least Silksong and Bloodborne fans have each other.
