Pokemon GO developer Niantic announced a new partnership with McDonald’s in the United States, which will be held throughout the course of the Dual Destiny season. By heading to McDonald’s locations during certain weeks, Pokemon GO players can earn more rewards than usual, thanks to location-exclusive Gyms.
Pokemon GO Dual Destiny is live through March 4, 2025, and players can expect several events to be held each month during the season, including Community Day events. Pokemon GO Tour: Unova will also arrive in 2025 with “new stories” inspired by Pokemon Black and White and exclusive in-person events in Los Angeles and New Taipei City. Dual Destiny season also marks the beginning of a partnership between Pokemon GO and McDonald’s, giving fans more opportunities to grow as Pokemon Trainers.

Pokemon GO Tour: Unova could give players a taste of what The Pokemon Company has in store for the future of the Pokemon series.
The Pokemon GO and McDonald’s partnership officially begins with a limited-time event lasting from Monday, December 16 to Sunday, December 22. During the collaboration, Pokemon GO players may visit sponsored PokeStops or Gyms when visiting McDonald’s restaurants in the US. Players can encounter Pokemon attracted by Lure Modules at the sponsored PokeStops in Pokemon GO and participate in five-star raids at McDonald’s Gyms. These Lure Modules and Raid Battles will be available each day from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time during each week of the collaboration.
Pokemon GO Reveals Event Dates for McDonald’s Partnership
- McDonald’s restaurants will have sponsored PokeStops and Gyms featuring Lure Modules and five-star Raid Battles each week:
- Monday, December 16, to Sunday, December 22, 2024
- Monday, January 20, to Sunday, January 26, 2025
- Monday, February 10, to Sunday, February 16, 2025
- Monday, March 10, to Sunday, March 16, 2025
The McDonald’s collaboration event will also be held from Monday, January 20 to Sunday, January 26, 2025, Monday, February 10 to Sunday, February 16, 2025, and Monday, March 10 to Sunday, March 16, 2025. Once more, Lure Modules and Raid Battles will be available at McDonald’s restaurants each week, giving players four weeks’ worth of opportunities to catch Pokemon and defeat powerful Pokemon in Raid Battles.
It’s unclear what Pokemon will appear in the upcoming McDonald’s Raid Battles, but Niantic did confirm its Pokemon GO raid schedule for the latter half of December. Mega Latios will now appear in mega raids until Thursday, December 19, followed by Mega Latias from December 19 to Thursday, December 26. Giratina (Altered Forme) and Mega Abomasnow will appear in five-star raids and mega raids from Thursday, December 26 to Saturday, January 4 respectively. Throughout December, several Max Battles will be held in Pokemon GO as well.
Pokemon GO’s Holiday Part 2 event will begin on December 22 as the first week of McDonald’s collaboration winds down. Players will earn double XP from catching Pokemon and 50% more XP from completing Raid Battles, so there could be an opportunity for event bonuses to stack on that day.
