Saber Interactive revealed Turok: Origins at The Game Awards 2024, a brand-new co-op multiplayer adventure in the franchise. Turok: Origins is the first game in the series since 2019’s Turok: Escape from the Lost Valley, which was released exclusively on Xbox One and PC, though was then delisted in 2022. Published by Saber Interactive, Turok: Origins returns to the series’ fast-paced, sci-fi action shooter roots, this time with a solo and co-operative multiplayer twist.
The Turok video game series first started in 1997, developed by Iguana Entertainment and published by Acclaim for the Nintendo 64 and PC platforms in 1997. The game then got a few sequels, including Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Rage Wars, and Shadow of Oblivion, which were all released on the N64 as well. The series then got a prequel in 2008 titled Turok: Evolution, along with a reboot simply titled Turok, that is unrelated to previous entries. The aforementioned Escape from the Lost Valley was also unrelated to the main video game series, being based on the Turok comics instead. Turok: Origins is the newest entry in this long-running and classic shooter franchise.

Some of the dinosaurs were shown off in this trailer as well, including giant triceratops and velociraptors.

Turok: Origins also teases various returns to its roots, along with a new feature like being able to unlock new DNA powers from slain dinosaurs, giving players new abilities and the ability to customize them how they see fit.
Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch touts this as a proper revival of the Turok series, bringing its action gameplay and spirit to the modern era with a new look, story, and gameplay. Karch even noted that it was a nostalgic series from the N64 era that the studio wanted to bring back, calling Turok: Origins an “old-school” experience that has been revitalized with modern-day elements. “Turok is an iconic game franchise that has fascinated players for decades. As we embark on its revival, we’re proud to honor its rich heritage while reimagining it for a new era,” said Bill Kispert SVP & GM of Games & Digital Platforms at Universal Products & Experiences.
