Helldivers 2 manages to climb back to an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam reviews after facing significant backlash in August.
One of the worst kept secrets with Helldivers 2 is with the Illuminate faction. Following many leaks and teases over the past year, Arrowhead Game Studios has finally made it official within the Omens of Tyranny update. The Illuminate, a faction from the original game, has finally returned, and are able to mind control individuals. As the trailer showcased, Helldivers are now up against not only Illuminate enemies, but zombie-like citizens known as The Voteless.

However, this update adds more than just the Illuminate, adding new mission area environments to fight through, like cities and other urban locations. The difference is that cities remove the open space that the typical Helldivers 2 biomes like forests, deserts, and others provide, making it easier to get overrun by the Voteless. To help with navigation, players will have access to a new vehicle, the FRV or Fast Recon Vehicle. With space for 4 players, it also comes armed with weapons to help mow down enemies.
One final surprise also confirmed a recent Helldivers 2 DualSense rumor. The limited edition controller features a yellow and black paint scheme and Helldivers 2 skull icon on the touch pad. Interested players can pick it up on February 6, 2025, with pre-orders opening on December 20, 2024.
