One of the most interesting new features in C6 has been the extra movement mechanics, but how to ledge jump in Fortnite might not be immediately obvious. While we’ve had tons of these parkour mechanics added, most of them haven’t been totally explained in-game. Players don’t exactly get a tutorial.
If you’re an older Fortnite player it can be tempting to ignore the ledge jump in Fortnite along with the other mechanics. However, you’ll want to use every tool in your arsenal to keep winning games. This Chapter that means delving into the new Fortnite movement mechanics and see where it can take you. The Ledge Jump can be fun, helping you to get to a higher spot on the map.
How to Ledge Jump in Fortnite
Out of the new movement mechanics in Fortnite this season, they’re a mixed bag. We’ve got a handful which are weirdly all tied to a single input, with just your physical movement to determine which one activates. However, how to ledge jump in Fortnite is a drop easier. This is one that’s a lot simpler to get right. This is how you do it:
- Use the sprinting mechanic
- While running, press jump
- If you jump off of something, you should use the ledge jump
This movement and how to ledge jump in Fortnite is mainly determined by where you’re jumping. It is nicely easier than the other new mechanics and works well in tandem with them. Combining it with a roll land in Fortnite can be very useful too.
What Do You Use It For?
The system for how to ledge jump in Fortnite is quite easy, but where exactly does it come in handy? Well, it adds a cinematic animation to leading off buildings. But in terms of gameplay, it has a few uses. If you have a long time spent playing Fortnite, you’re probably pretty used to where you can and can’t make it to with a jump. With this higher ledge jump, you can go further. It’s especially useful in the new large city POI, which seems designed to take advantage of this. You can safely move between buildings even when jumps used to be out of your range.
Other than that, the extra jump won’t really come in too handy. It isn’t like the wall scrambles which can mix up your movements. If an opponent is particularly prone to trying to beam players leaping though, the ledge jump’s different animation could throw them too. It probably won’t decide the winner in any tournaments or Fortnite betting, but the ledge jump is a fun addition to the game’s parkour.
