At The Game Awards 2024, Bandai Namco has revealed that Final Fantasy XVI’s protagonist, Clive Rosfield, will be joining Tekken 8’s roster on December 16. Season pass owners will be able to access Clive 72 hours early.
The reveal trailer shows Clive fighting against Jin. They both have similar motifs as they can summon a single wing from their backs, which is a thematic fit for the trailer. Clive proceeds to knock Jin around using his flame-based powers that he received from Ifrit. At the end, he summons Ifrit himself to finish Jin off.
In Final Fantasy XVI, Clive has powers from multiple elements such as ice, water, lighting, and earth. It’s unclear if his moveset in Tekken 8 will reflect them.
Clive’s inclusion marks the end of the Year 1 season pass. Previous characters revealed in the pass were Eddy Gordo, Lidia Sobieska, and Heihachi Mishima. As for Year 2’s season pass, Anna Williams is heavily teased to be one of the characters. Clive also isn’t the only Final Fantasy character to be in a Tekken game. Final Fantasy XV’s protagonist, Noctis, was a guest character in Tekken 7.
Tekken 8 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. In GameSpot’s Tekken 8 review, we said, “A new aggressive fighting system and a healthy cast of characters make Tekken 8 pack a powerful punch.”
