Feybreak Needs to Step Up Where Sakurajima Slipped

The Game Awards 2024 gave everyone a glimpse of what’s coming into Palworld in the near future via a new trailer. Feybreak, the name of the major update that will bring these additions, is expected to be released on December 23, a big day for fans of Pocketpair’s creation. While the announcement trailer showed the things bound for the game, there is still some concern about whether Feybreak will do what the previous Sakrujima patch didn’t manage to.

Although there are still some quite unclear details, Palworld fans at least know it’s coming near the very end of December and will be bringing things like a new faction leader, environments, Pals, and more. The trailer even showed the possibility of Palworld finally receiving a story or something resembling it, something the Sakurajima update failed to provide. The game feels as if it’s long overdue for a narrative, and hopefully, Feybreak can give it a satisfying one.

Terraria and Palworld will be crossing over in 2025, and there’s a lot fans can speculate about regarding what the event will bring.

Why Palworld’s Feybreak Update Including a Story Mode Would Be Ideal

Palworld is ending 2024 with a bang, but if it really wants to cement itself as a title whose growth people will want to keep looking forward to, then hopefully the major patch will finally give the game a story mode. Palworld can only benefit from its inclusion, as it can lead to things such as:

  • Guiding players and showing them that there’s more to enjoy other than creating bases and capturing monsters.
  • Providing more background for certain characters or Pals, ensuring that there is proper world-building which could make people grow attached to certain figures and invest more time into the game as a result.
  • Opening up the possibility for future narrative updates, like the many factions of Palworld acquiring their own story mode, makng them feel like more than just random groups that players can choose to beat.

How Palworld’s Feybreak Update Can Start Setting up a Story

Not only can Palworld‘s December update side-step the Sakurajima patch’s problem of not introducing a plot, but based on the trailer, it may actually be planning to do so. It already sets up a potential narrative, as it shows a muscular man who looks to be the leader of the new faction going up against a Pal who seems to be skilled in martial arts. Perhaps the game will allow the player to see how the two started as enemies and then go through a series of quests that gradually sees them becoming allies. The plot could even include the structure that housed or imprisoned one of the update’s new dragon-looking creatures, allowing for more lore to be worked in. There’s a lot of potential for a well-developed story based on this trailer, and hopefully, Pocketpair was able to implement one into this incoming patch.

Pocketpair’s plan to expand the Palworld IP will definitely be easier if the developer continues to shell out updates like Feybreak. The major patch is something that fans can really look forward to, and hopefully, there’s even more to it than the new Pals, weapons, and environments, as a story mode could help the game become an even bigger success.
