Veteran video game voice actress Laura Bailey and Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul are joining forces in Dispatch, an upcoming title about a superhero response center. Bailey and Paul were among the many special guests at The Game Awards 2024, a blockbuster event that honored the biggest and best titles of this proceeding year while looking ahead to the future. Other big names included the legendary Hideo Kojima, Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake, Snoop Dogg, and even original Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford, who took the stage alongside Indiana Jones and the Great Circle star Troy Baker.

Aaron Paul was also confirmed for The Game Awards 2024 shortly before the show aired on December 12. Paul is primarily known for his breakout role as troubled meth dealer Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad, with his only video game-related performances before now being 2014’s live-action Need for Speed movie and the 2016 animated tie-in film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy 15. In contrast, Laura Bailey has had a long and storied career as a video game voice actress, with some of her more recent roles being the vengeful Abby in The Last of Us Part 2 and Mary Jane Watson in the Insomniac-developed Marvel’s Spider-Man series.

The Biggest Announcements from The Game Awards 2024

The biggest Game Awards announcements sent shockwaves of excitement rippling throughout the industry, with sequels, spin-offs, and new IPs aplenty.

Aaron Paul and Laura Bailey walked onto the Game Awards 2024 stage together to exchange some playful banter before revealing their new collaboration: Dispatch, an interactive adventure developed by AdHoc Studio (formed by several Telltale Games alumni). Paul voices Robert Robertson, a former superhero forced into an early retirement when his armored mech suit is destroyed in battle. He is soon recruited to run the phones at a superhero dispatch center where former supervillains seek redemption. This is easier said than done though, as Robert must navigate the pitfalls of interacting with this band of misfits while ensuring they save the day.

Dispatch is an Interactive Superhero Work Comedy Starring Aaron Paul and Laura Bailey

Gameplay-wise, Dispatch is a narrative-based adventure title in which the player shapes Robert’s story and relationships through dialogue options. He also needs to guide the heroes of SDN to where they are needed by clicking on a given character’s profile and dragging them to a designated prompt box. However, if there is an overlap between two heroes’ patrols, it could lead to them disrupting each other’s missions and potentially increasing tensions among the already dysfunctional team.

Aaron Paul and Laura Bailey aren’t the only big names attached to Dispatch, as the game features a star-studded cast of notable video game voice actors and Hollywood performers alike. This includes Bailey’s Critical Role co-stars Travis Willingham and Matthew Mercer, Hades 2 actress Erin Yvette, and Cyberpunk 2077’s Alanah Pearce. Internet personalities Jacksepticeye, Charles “MoistCr1TiKaL” White, and the music group THOT SQUAD, as well as actors Lance Cantstopolis, Joel Haver, and The Batman and Marvel’s What If star Jeffrey Wright will also appear. So far, no official release date has been confirmed for Dispatch, but it is planned to launch sometime in 2025.
