Jujutsu Kaisen concluded rather recently and fans got to witness a masterclass by the protagonist in the final segment of the series, where he took on the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, in an incredibly exciting battle, and prevailed over him. Jujutsu Kaisen: The One Spin-off That Absolutely Needs To Happen
JJK ended earlier this year. The series still has potential and needs a spin-off.
Yuji is still one of the brightest prospects when it comes to the sorcerers of the next generation, and he will go on to reach a very high level in the future. In fact, Yuji might even go on to surpass Gojo. However, in a very different way than fans would have expected.
Surpassing Gojo As A Sorcerer
- Yuji Has The Potential To Surpass Gojo
- Yuji May Or May Not Fulfil His Potential
The very first thing that fans need to get out of the way is Yuji’s huge potential to surpass Gojo. Clearly, there cannot be a clear answer on whether Yuji can go on to surpass Gojo or not. After all, Gojo was a genius himself and a mighty sorcerer on the same level as Sukuna. The things that Gojo could do with sorcery were, at times, beyond all logic, and for Yuji to utilize sorcery on that level is going to be very difficult, to say the least. Clearly, there is a very big possibility that Yuji will actually never go on to surpass Gojo as a sorcerer. But, that certainly does not mean that the possibility doesn’t exist. Yuji certainly does have the potential to surpass Gojo, and he has the potential to reach a level similar to Sukuna. In fact, Yuji can surpass both Gojo and Sukuna, and there exists a possibility for this scenario as well. But, just because there is potential there doesn’t mean that he’s going to fulfill it.
Does that mean this brat has the same potential as Master Sukuna? – Uraume
At the very least, fans can rest assured that Yuji will go on to become the strongest sorcerer of the future. For one, he has muscle memory from Sukuna’s time in his body, which essentially makes him a genius at fighting in many ways. His naturally gifted strength and his ability to deal damage directly to the soul only add to his powers.
Yuji has access to the incredible cursed technique, Shrine, which he will only continue to grow in the future years. Added to that is the fact that he will likely go on to improve his usage of Blood Manipulation as well, and, with that, reverse cursed technique. Yuji still needs to learn many interesting aspects of battle if he is to surpass the likes of Gojo and Sukuna, and whether or not he will go on to do that remains to be seen. But, fans can say that there exists a possibility for him to do so at the very least.
Surpassing Gojo As His Student
Yuji Will Definitely Surpass Gojo As A Leader
Regardless of whether Yuji will surpass Gojo or not as a sorcerer, what fans know for sure is that he can actually go on to surpass Gojo as his student. In fact, this is directly hinted at in the very last chapter of JJK, where Gojo tells him that he has very high hopes for him and that he should seek to develop a different kind of strength than him. Gojo was a monster in combat, but he couldn’t accomplish his dream by his own hands. Goja wanted to create a new generation where the corrupt leaders of the Jujutsu world didn’t have a monopoly over everything and where the powerless did not get preyed upon. Unfortunately, he died before this dream was fulfilled, but he left hope for the future generation in the form of Yuji and ensured that he went on to nurture the generation that comes after him and maintain order, something that he sought to do himself in his life.
Seek a different kind of strength than mine. – Gojo
It must be remembered that it was Gojo’s dream and the very reason why he even became a teacher in the first place. Now, Yuji has set out on that path and accomplished it. Gojo’s dream ended up becoming Yuji’s dream and that is what he inherited from his sensei. In continuing the dream of his own teacher and doing what he couldn’t, Yuji will go on to surpass Gojo.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Why A Sequel Could Bring A Threat Greater Than Sukuna
JJK characters could face an even bigger threat than Sukuna if the series ever gets a sequel.
At the same time, it must also be remembered that the way Gojo went about helping people and the way Yuji goes about helping people is very different. Gojo helped people who wanted to be helped. In many ways, that can be seen as healthy, but, Yuji actually surpassed him in this regard by saving people who didn’t want help from him. For instance, Megumi Fushiguro comes to mind, whom Yuji saved in the Final Saga despite him rejecting a helping hand on many occasions. Whereas someone else would have given up on him, Yuji stuck by him right up until the very end, and in this regard too, he actually went on to surpass his sensei.
Attaining A Different Kind Of Strength
Gojo Wanted Yuji To Be Different
When looking at everything that Yuji has been blessed with, it makes sense as to why Gojo asked him to seek a different kind of strength than him. Gojo was a monster of combat and certainly the strongest of his time, and potentially the strongest of all time. But, he was lacking in many ways, and was certainly not perfect. Yuji is also not perfect, but he is more compassionate and wants to help everyone around him. Yuji is nurturing, and this was hinted at in the last chapter again when he set the rogue curse user on the right path once again.
Eugie can actually go on to create a just order and see to it that all the needy are always helped. In this regard, he is better than Gojo, and he can utilize his compassion as his strength, which is exactly what Gojo meant by Yuji seeking a different kind of strength. But, of course, to enforce his ideals and his way of thinking, he needs actual power as well, which then goes on to explain why he is as strong as he is. In many ways, Yuji has created the perfect blend of strength and kindness. This is how Yuji surpassed Gojo at the end of JJK and how he made sure that he carried on his sensei’s work with his own two hands.
Hopefully, fans will get a better look at Yuji some years down the line if there is a JJK one-shot or a spin-off series. As things stand, a look at Yuji as an adult has not been given to the fans, but when it is provided, fans can only hope he’s surpassed Gojo’s expectations.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
