Sylus, the fourth love interest introduced in Love And Deepspace has turned heads since he was announced, and it’s only natural to be curious about this shady overlord. Not much is known about the mysterious leader of Onychinus, and after his long hiatus, even the citizens of the N109 Zone are eager to learn more about Sylus.

Love And Deepspace: How To Unlock Sylus
The criminal underworld’s most eligible bachelor is looking for love!
Luckily, Sylus has taken a liking to the main character. She’s likely one of the only people in all of Linkon who knows the real Sylus, except his two henchmen Luke and Kieran, but more on them later. Yet, despite the love blossoming between Sylus and the MC, there’s still much to learn.
This article contains spoilers for Sylus’ main story branch, Memory Cards, and Anecdotes.
Sylus’ Personality And Traits
Mysterious as he may be, Sylus is a difficult man to forget. His tall stature (6′ 2″ or 188 cm), striking white hair, and dazzling red eyes stand out in whatever room he’s in.
His imposing nature goes beyond his physical appearance, though, as he wields a powerful Energy Manipulation Evol, bodily regeneration, and even the ability to restart his own heart after death.
Sylus is sarcastic, refined, intelligent, dangerous, and yet still charming. The contrast between his brutal actions and elegant nature is liable to give someone whiplash.
While he’s prone to violence, he does still have a moral code that he sticks to. Sylus honors his deals and oaths and never breaks a promise, whether it’s a threat or a heartfelt vow.
His softer side only comes out when interacting with the MC, children, or animals. Sylus has a particular soft spot for strays like his mechanical crow, Mephisto. He even agrees to care for the dove that the MC leaves in his care during Sylus: Nightplumes.
Sylus’ Past, Explained
Not much is known about Sylus’ past, and he’s certainly not the most forthcoming about it, either.
When the MC meets him, he has just returned from a long, mysterious hiatus. Not even his own organization, Onychinus knows where he was.
While Sylus hasn’t given many clues as to what his past life and childhood were like, a few mentions arise in his Memory Cards and through various event stories.
In the memory, Sylus: No Way Out, Sylus admits that he played with real guns as a child, rather than toy guns. You can get this and other four-star memories from the Galaxy Explorer pool.
During their first meeting (in Chapter Two of Long Awaited Revelry, Ambiguous Chaos), Sylus tells the MC that he’s surprised she doesn’t remember him and that they are “the same”. The MC’s memory gap is a persistent theme throughout the narrative, so it’s possible she and Sylus became acquainted during this time.
However, most information about Sylus’ past comes from his Anecdote. Sylus’ Anecdote story explains that he managed to conquer the N109 Zone after traveling to Linkon City from another planet, very likely Philos.
At the end of his Anecdote, Sylus asks a resident what the current fashion is like in the N109 Zone.
He then sees a billboard of a man in a leather jacket riding a motorcycle. This is why his leather jacket outfit is called ‘Otherworldly Visitor.‘
Sylus is wearing this outfit and riding his motorcycle in one of his first encounters with the MC.
Sylus brought wealth from planets and galaxies that he had pillaged. It’s possible these riches were how he began his network of illegal armories and other unusual treasures.
Sylus also reveals to the MC that he has a powerful Aether Core behind his eye that allows him to see a person’s deepest desires. Could this be why he claims he and the MC are the same? Is the only connection between them the presence of modified Aether Cores in their bodies?
The answers to these questions haven’t come up yet, but with the current trajectory of the main storyline and the MC’s search for answers about her own Aether Core, Sylus’ origins will likely be uncovered in the coming chapters.
Because Sylus is the fourth love interest to be introduced to the game, his second myth story had not been announced for some time after his character release. After much anticipation, Sylus’ second myth came out during the Where Drakeshadows Fall event Wish Pool.
In Sylus’ second myth, Beyond Cloudfall, it is revealed that Sylus was the very last dragon to rule Philos long before the age of humanity. It is at this point that he meets the MC, a condemned sorceress, for the first time.
The MC saves Sylus from imprisonment in the Abyss and makes a deal to free him if she saves her life. The cost is her soul. That pivotal moment begins a long, self-fulfilling prophecy that binds their souls together throughout the ages and persists to this day.
Ultimately, the two are fated to devour each other and perhaps bring about Doomsday, the ultimate end of Philos, though whether this comes to pass is unknown.
As more memories are released and collected and as the MC’s affinity with Sylus improves, more information on their shared past is sure to be revealed.
Who Does Sylus Work For?
Despite his young age (28), Sylus has made a name for himself in the criminal underworld of the N109 Zone and abroad. Sylus began Onychinus by buying and selling illegal Evol weapons and Protocores.
While the N109 Zone is a perpetually lawless place where even the Hunters Association hesitates to go, there is a ruling body… of sorts. Onychinus has stepped in as the most influential faction in the N109 Zone and whatever Sylus says, goes.
There are other gangs in the N109 Zone that Onychinus has to deal with, but Onychinus always comes out on top, thanks to Sylus’ deft leadership.
Little else is known about the interior structure of Onychinus, but there are two more notable members underneath Sylus. Luke and Kieran are masked twins who function as Sylus’ right (and left) hand men.
The brothers are henchmen of a sort but seem to care deeply about Sylus. Outside of Mephisto, Luke and Kieran are also likely the only other individuals to know about Sylus as a person. They even reveal to the MC that Sylus does have a heart beneath his cold exterior.
Sylus’ Tastes And Hobbies
One might not think the leader of Onychinus has much time for hobbies, but Sylus has many. He’s an audiophile, avid record collector, and a champion boxer.
Similar in nature to a crow, Sylus loves shiny things. From gems to antiques, guns, and other weaponry, Sylus’ collection is filled with glittering goods. It’s a wonder Mephisto hasn’t swooped in and stolen a piece or two!
Sylus’ love for music goes beyond record collecting and extends to singing, which he doesn’t have much talent for. Despite being tone-deaf, he still relishes the opportunity to sing for the MC and others.
Sylus also loves a good bottle of wine and an exquisite meal. In Video Call: Instant Noodles, Sylus admits freely that he eats a lot more than one might think he would.
Sylus’ bottomless appetite may stem from the fiendish greed of his dragon self, revealed in the Beyond Cloudfall myth. His potential dragon ancestry is likely also the origin of his penchant for collecting shiny stones and valuables.
