Mihawk is known as One Piece’s greatest swordsman. Is he overrated?

Right now, the Four Emperors are certainly among the elites of the One Piece world, when speaking of pirates, and from the side of the Government, Imu and the Elders seem to be the ones at the top. This order is likely to change significantly in One Piece over the course of the next few years, especially as the final war in the series kickstarts.

The Current Mightiest In One Piece

One Piece The Role Of The Yonko In Elbaf

  • The Yonko Are At The Very Top
  • The Full Extent Of Imu’s Power Remains Unknown

The world of One Piece has many powerful individuals right now, and that is precisely what makes it difficult to outright say who the strongest character in the series is. Up until recently, Kaido was one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, and Oda has explicitly stated Kaido to be the strongest creature, and at the same time, the strongest pirate alive as well. But, now, Kaido is no more, or, at the very least, he’s not active anymore. Along with Kaido, Big Mom is also not active, which means that the current Four Emperors are at the forefront of things. When it comes to the pirates, Shanks has the most experience, and he might just be the strongest of the lot. Blackbeard is also up there when it comes to being the mightiest in the One Piece world right now.

Then, one also has to consider the powers of the Five Elders. They recently showcased their capabilities on Egghead, and, at the same time, fans also got to see their incredible immortality-like powers. The Five Elders have their own position, and rightfully so, among the strongest, and, of course, Imu, being above them, is likely one of the strongest as well.

Dragon is certainly hovering around the same area, and fans know that he’s going to be one of the most powerful characters ever seen once he does go all out.

At this point, Shanks is the one who has the strongest case for being the mightiest character in One Piece. Blackbeard still doesn’t appear to be the finished product, especially because he is still hunting from Devil Fruits, as was clear from his Amazon Lily detour. Shanks’s incredible Haki, and the fact that he has been compared directly to Roger on many occasions, is proof enough that, as things stand, he is the mightiest in the world and a force to be reckoned with. But, while Shanks might be the strongest character in One Piece right now, fans cannot say for sure that he’s going to be the strongest end-of-series character. In fact, it is highly likely the Shanks will be surpassed and, at the same time, there might be characters stronger than him who existed in the past.

What Makes Joy Boy The Strongest In One Piece History

Joy Boy Could Be One Step Above Shanks

When speaking of characters that existed in the past that could have been stronger than Shanks, the likes of Whitebeard and Roger come to mind. Specifically, fans know that Roger is a character who was at the top of his era, and, just like Shanks, he relied just on Haki in battle. Roger became the Pirate King and he did it all with his Haki alone. It is believed that Roger was just as strong as Whitebeard despite carrying an illness, and this was indicated by their battle, which resulted in a tie.

The fact is that Roger was severely ill around this time in the story, which essentially means that he was already nerfed when they fought. Roger’s Haki was stronger than Whitebeard is proof that he was, in some ways, superior to him, although in terms of combat prowess, these two were equal.

Now, Shanks has been compared to Roger on many occasions as well, and has been stated by many to be the next Pirate King. Their genius as well as their Haki might be comparable as well, given that Shanks literally takes pages from Roger’s book and utilizes them and combat effortlessly. But, even taking these three characters aside, there is one individual who clearly is the strongest of all time in One Piece and that person is none other than Joy Boy.

One Piece: How Zoro’s Left Eye Will Be Key To Beating Mihawk

Zoro’s left eye is a major mystery in One Piece. It could be the key to defeating Mihawk.

Regardless of how strong Roger, Whitebeard, and Shanks are, none of them hold a candle to Joy Boy. Fans saw a glimpse of Joy Boy’s strength when he unleashed his strongest Haki in the Egghead Arc of One Piece, and upon doing so, the sky was split above Egghead. His Haki was so strong that the Five Elders were knocked out of their demonic transformations, and Saturn’s summoning was negated as well. Four of the Elders were transported back to Marijoa, while Saturn was left huffing and puffing on Egghead. All Vice Admirals were knocked out, and even the Giants were shocked upon seeing the level of Haki that was displayed. This was quite easily the greatest Haki feat that fans have seen in One Piece, and it just goes to show that Joy Boy was the strongest character of his time and certainly the mightiest in the history of the series.

Why Luffy Will Be One Piece’s Strongest Character

Luffy Is Already On The Path To Becoming The Strongest Of All Time

The fact that Luffy is Joy Boy essentially goes on to prove that he will, in the future, go on to surpass the likes of Shanks, Roger, and Whitebeard. If he is to be the strongest character on the seas, he has to live up to the comparisons to the original Joy Boy. In fact, Luffy actually has to pull one step ahead of him, because he has to do what Joy Boy failed to do.

Luffy will have to become even stronger and he will certainly go on to accomplish that in the future. Right now, Luffy has access to Gear 5, which Joy Boy did as well, and that essentially means that one part of the job is already done. The second half of the issue still remains and that is to improve the overall control over his Haki. What fans saw on Egghead Island was Oda’s way of showing the readers what level Luffy will reach in the future. Fans can rest assured that after the final war, Luffy will be the strongest character on the seas and that he will have surpassed all in One Piece.
