8 Armored Core

The Start Of A Challenging Franchise

  • Platform(s): PlayStation
  • Released: 1997-10-22
  • Developer: FromSoftware
  • Genre(s): Third-person Shooter

Armored Core is a franchise created by FromSoftware that has continued to be successful over the years since the first title was released on the PlayStation in 1997. While some players have found this original third-person shooter mecha title to be tough, others have found the combat within this game to be just right as players take on the various missions in this FromSoftware title.

Although the maps of this first Armored Core title were quite large and open, forcing players to search around for their enemies within the missions, the gameplay of Armored Core compared to the more recent titles wasn’t as much of a challenge, with there being a significant difference between the intensity of them.

7 King’s Field 2

A Brilliant RPG Experience With A Hint Of Dark Souls Influence

Many players that have enjoyed the earlier titles of FromSoftware, such as King’s Field 2, have seen the roots of what then created the Dark Souls franchise from this Japanese gaming company through the aesthetic of the graphically poor world the player can explore.

King’s Field 2 is another title by FromSoftware that some players deem as being the perfect difficulty for players to enjoy. However, others argue that there is a toughness to King’s Field 2 due to the strategy needed even back then in this RPG when battling various monsters.

6 Shadow Assault: Tenchu

An Easy-To-Understand Game That Can Be Challenging To Play

  • Platform(s): Xbox 360
  • Released: 2008-10-08
  • Developer: FromSoftware
  • Genre(s): Action, Puzzle

Although Shadow Assault: Tenchu is a title by FromSoftware that has received incredibly rocky reviews since its release in 2008 for the Xbox 360, this title is another game from the company that inspired the souls-like genre, that players looking for an easier time will likely enjoy.

Boss fights in FromSoftware games are a spectacle of their own, from Elden Ring to the Dark Souls games. Here are the most cinematic ones by far.

As an arcade title, Shadow Assault can be enjoyed either single-player or with up to three friends, though this multiplayer version will only be difficult if the player is against friends who are pros. Meanwhile, the single-player version of this action title where the player is instead put against AI is simple to get into and also easy for players to get good at too.

5 Enchanted Arms

Even With So Many Characters, This Game Is Just Right

Another game by FromSoftware that has been deemed as just the right difficulty, even when considering the harder titles the company has created, is Enchanted Arms. Although at first glance, a player may feel slightly overwhelmed due to the abundance of characters, the player is able to collect and control as they progress through the game.

The mechanics of this JRPG are easy to pick up to allow the player to instead focus on the interesting story. The game uses turn-based combat, so the player is given more than enough time to plan their attacks with these controllable characters and build a team that they’re proud of.

4 Kuon

A Survival Horror That Is Easy To Survive In

To some players’ surprise, FromSoftware, which is commonly known for making various challenging RPGs, once created a survival horror title back in 2004 for the PlayStation 2. Although survival is in its name, Kuon wasn’t much of a challenge for the players who experienced this horror adventure, as they deemed the difficulty to be just right for the experience.

However, this doesn’t mean that Kuon isn’t an eerie adventure to be had, as there are still moments within this survival horror game that will have players gripping the edge of their seats in anticipation as they avoid the frights while they walk around.

3 Lost Kingdoms

An Endearing Small RPG Adventure

  • Platform(s): GameCube
  • Released: 2002-05-29
  • Developer: FromSoftware
  • Genre(s): Action RPG

FromSoftware’s RPGs don’t need to be a challenge to get through with the player suffering countless attempts against bosses, as RPGs like Lost Kingdoms were developed by the same company that brought players Dark Souls, and also gave them a unique experience as they saved several kingdoms.

FromSoftware’s Soulsborne games are known for their difficult boss fights. The following eight animalistic beasts are among their toughest.

Even with the unique combat in Lost Kingdoms that requires the player to keep moving, this game is deemed just right in difficulty for those who enjoyed the title back on the GameCube. The main character, Katia, is unable to fight directly and instead relies on her cards that summon various monsters to do her bidding for her. As long as the player is able to dodge out the way of attacks in real-time combat, they are sure to survive.

2 Echo Night

Discover The Truth In This Simple Puzzle Title

  • Platform(s): PlayStation
  • Released: 1999-07-22
  • Developer: FromSoftware
  • Genre(s): Adventure

As a graphic adventure, the player isn’t required to do much fighting in Echo Night, but instead solve the mystery of what happened to the crew of the Orpheus ship. As the player enters the ship, they will be met by the ghosts of those who once worked on it, and therefore, they must solve various puzzles to not only solve what happened but also put these people to rest.

These tasks are incredibly straightforward for the player to complete, with the game mainly focusing on telling a story to the player. The game hooked enough people to allow Echo Night to have several other titles also created.

1 Deracine

An Experimental VR Experience By FromSoftware

  • Platform(s): PlayStation 4
  • Released: 2018-11-06
  • Developer: FromSoftware
  • Genre(s): Adventure

Out of all the games developed by FromSoftware, this is not only one of the easiest games they have created but also the most experimental. Deracine is a VR-exclusive title that was available on the PlayStation 4. Due to it requiring the motion controls of this generation of PlayStation, the game lacked a lot of the difficulty that is to be expected of FromSoftware.

This was another graphic adventure that heavily focused on telling the story, as the game explores the theme of existence vs nonexistence as players come to terms with whether Faeries could exist on a mystical island that could shorten or extend a person’s life. Overall, Deracine is one of the easiest FromSoftware games to play and is a great choice for any who possesses a VR headset for PlayStation.
