Key Takeaways

  • Ultimate abilities in
    Marvel Rivals
can significantly impact the flow of battle with unique and powerful effects.
  • Luna Snow’s Fate of Both Worlds and Iron Man’s Invincible Pulse Cannon are among the best ultimates, capable of changing the game.
  • Loki’s God of Mischief ultimate stands out for its versatility, allowing players to adapt to any situation, making it the top ultimate in the game.

Marvel Rivals has been captivating players around the world thanks to its high-octane, fast-paced six-versus-six team gameplay. The game has been receiving a lot of comparisons to Blizzard’s team shooter Overwatch 2, and it’s easy to see the similarities.

One of the most prominent similarities between Marvel Rivals and Overwatch 2 is ultimate abilities. These abilities are special skills that are charged as the player progresses during a match. Once charged, players can unleash their ultimates to do all sorts of things on the battlefield, from wiping out the enemy team with devastating attacks to powerfully buffing or healing their allies.

Marvel Rivals is the New Gold Standard for Live-Service Launches

Marvel Rivals is the latest in a long line of live-service games, but while many of those have struggled, NetEase Games has crafted something special.

This list is going to be looking at ten of the best ultimates in Marvel Rivals. These ultimates offer a diverse range of abilities that can change the flow of battle in an instant.

10 Spectacular Spin

Spider-Man

  • In-Game Description: Launch Web-Clusters all around to damage and Stun enemies

Spidey’s Spectacular Spin move can be tricky to pull off successfully, as Spider-Man is a tough hero to master in general. However, if done right, this ultimate can take down multiple enemies at once.

Even if players don’t manage to take anyone out with the Spectacular Spin, Spidey can still stun them. This leaves the enemy open to attack. If the player’s teammates are in the area when the ultimate is used, they can take advantage of the stunned effect and quickly eliminate the other team.

9 Fate Of Both Worlds

Luna Snow

  • In-Game Description: Take center stage and start dancing! Press to toggle between two performances: Heal allies or grant them Damage boost.

Luna Snow arguably has the best ultimate for a Strategist in the game, as she can heal or buff her allies while remaining almost invulnerable. It also comes with a little dance number, which is a nice touch for her K-pop persona. When Luna activates her Fate of Both Worlds ultimate, she starts to dance and forms a circle around her. Allies in the circle will receive healing or a boost to damage, depending on which option Luna uses. Luna can be moved as she dances, so she can follow her allies around the battlefield.

Do You Prefer Hero Shooters Or MOBAs?

I’m usually more open to trying out new Hero Shooters over MOBAs nowadays. I used to be really into the MOBA genre, but after Heroes of the Storm essentially went into a permanent hibernation, I haven’t really felt like getting back into League of Legends. But I had a great time with the original Overwatch, played a lot of Apex Legends, and waaay back in the way I had hundreds of hours in Team Fortress 2.

While Luna can be eliminated while she is using her ultimate, it is incredibly difficult to do so, especially if she is healing. Her health continuously regenerates, so regular attacks aren’t strong enough to take her out. Other ultimates that deal very high damage at once can be dangerous to Luna while she is using Fate of Both Worlds, so be sure to stay attentive in case the enemy team tries to solo ult her.

8 Galactic Legend

Star-Lord

  • In-Game Description: Engage in free flight and lock onto enemies in sight.

Star-Lord’s ultimate ability has similarities to Soldier: 76’s from Overwatch 2, as it automatically locks onto enemies as he shoots. However, Galactic Legend is arguably all the more effective, as it is remarkably quick and Star-Lord can freely fly around the map as he shoots.

This is a great ultimate to use against Strategists and Duelists, as their health pools are smaller than the Vanguard class. Because of this, Star-Lord’s ultimate can eliminate these classes quickly and efficiently. That being said, this skill isn’t as effective against Vanguards, who have larger health pools. It will take more shots to bring down a Vanguard with Galactic Legend, but if their health is already low, it is possible to do so.

7 Karmic Revival

Adam Warlock

  • In-Game Description: Awaken the karma of allies to revive them. Allies revived have lower health but enjoy a brief period of invincibility

Adam Warlock isn’t the easiest Strategist hero to play, but for those who have the patience to get to grips with his skill set, he can be incredibly helpful as a supporting character during a battle. The Karmic Revival ultimate allows Adam to revive any fallen enemies on the battlefield in a similar way to how Mercy players used to be able to mass-resurrect teammates back in Overwatch 1.

It can be tough to time Adam’s ultimate to resurrect as many teammates as possible, but it can be useful — even when only resurrecting one teammate — as bringing any ally back to life can change the flow of battle immediately.

6 Omega Hurricane

Storm

  • In-Game Description: Transform into a hurricane to draw in nearby enemies and deal damage

X-Men member Storm has a particularly powerful ultimate ability in Marvel Rivals. When activated, Storm’s Omega Hurricane drags nearby enemies together. It also deals damage via the electricity bolts generated from the hurricane.

This is not only a great ultimate in its own right, but it’s also a fantastic ultimate when combined with other teammate skills. When Storm draws in the enemy and starts wounding them with Omega Hurricane, her allies can take them out with greater ease, as they are all in the same place.

5 Dance Of The Butterfly

Psylocke

  • In-Game Description: Slash nearby enemies with a psionic katana, dealing massive damage

Psylocke in Marvel Rivals has a lot of similarities to Genji from Overwatch 2, as she has a ninja style and weapon set, using a katana sword and shurikens. However, her ultimate is a lot easier to use, though it is still incredibly powerful.

When using Psylocke’s ultimate, the player selects an area and automatically starts cutting through enemies with her psionic katana. This can easily wipe out an enemy team if they are caught in Psylocke’s attack area, especially Duelists and Strategists due to their lower health bars.

4 Invincible Pulse Cannon

Iron Man

  • In-Game Description: Fire a devastating pulse cannon in the targeted direction, delivering catastrophic damage to the targeted upon area

Iron Man’s Invincible Pulse Cannon is another ultimate that can obliterate the enemy team if timed correctly. When Iron Man fires his pulse cannon, the enemy sees an exclamation mark warning them of where the projectile will hit. If they don’t get out of the way in time, the cannon has the power to take out everyone in the blast zone.

The impactful nature of this ultimate makes it one of the best in Marvel Rivals, though players will need to practice with Iron Man to make their ultimate count every time.

3 It’s Jeff

Jeff The Land Shark

  • In-Game Description: Deep dive into the scene and resurface to swallow both enemies and allies within range, activating Hide and Seek for a brief duration before ejecting the swallowed heroes forward.

One of the cutest and most unexpected heroes in Marvel Rivals is Jeff The Land Shark. This cuddly shark puppy is a Strategist hero who heals, but his ultimate has gained a fair amount of attention due to its offensive effectiveness.

When using the It’s Jeff ultimate, the player creates a whirlpool of water and directs it where they want it to go. Whoever gets caught in the whirlpool — both allies and enemies alike — are swallowed by Jeff. Enemies will receive continuous damage over the five or six seconds that they remain in Jeff’s mouth.

Marvel Rivals’ Jeff the Land Shark Might Hide Surprising Depths Behind His Warm Smile

Marvel Rivals’ Jeff the Land Shark is a warm and lovable character, but he might be hiding some surprising narrative depth beneath his surface.

Jeff can spit out enemies at any time in those few seconds, which has led a lot of players to start swallowing enemies and throwing them off the map. This is a surprisingly effective tactic, though it can also lead to the loss of allies if Jeff decides to spit everyone off the map.

It’s Jeff is definitely one of the best ultimates in the game, as not only can it lead to some impressive kills, but it’s also a lot of fun.

2 Reality Erasure

Scarlet Witch

  • In-Game Description: Engage in free flight while charging energy, then unleash it to deal massive damage

Scarlet Witch, aka. Wanda Maximoff, is a Duelist character whose magic can deal out some hefty damage. However, it is her ultimate that is the most dangerous aspect of her character. The Reality Erasure ultimate is a bit similar to D.Va’s Self Destruct ultimate in Overwatch 2, as it is an explosive ability that can take out a lot of enemies. There are a few seconds where the enemy has the chance to get away from the danger zone — indicated by an exclamation mark — but if they aren’t able to, Wanda will obliterate everyone and everything within range, causing them to explode into red dust.

As with D.Va’s ultimate, Reality Erasure is all about timing and positioning. The ability can completely miss its targets if it isn’t timed right, but the area that the player chooses to use it in also counts. Wanda is also vulnerable when using this ability, which makes correct positioning all the more crucial. With a bit of practice, players can strike fear into the enemy team when they hear Wanda unleash her Reality Erasure ultimate.

1 God Of Mischief

Loki

  • In-Game Description: Shapeshift into a targeted ally or enemy hero and use all their abilities except any of their Team-Up abilities.

Loki’s ultimate ability is the most versatile in Marvel Rivals, which is why he wins the top spot on this list. The God of Mischief ultimate allows him to turn into any enemy or ally and use any of their powers (minus the Team Up powers). He is immediately able to use their ultimate when he shapeshifts, which can completely turn a game around.

Though similar to Echo’s ultimate from Overwatch 2, Loki’s ability is all the more versatile as he can choose to change into an ally or an enemy, depending on what is needed at that moment for the team. Because of this, a skilled Loki player can adapt to any kind of battle with their ultimate. There are many possibilities for Loki when using the God of Mischief skill, making it the best and most multifaceted ultimate ability in Marvel Rivals.
