Key Takeaways
- The Pokemon Company has teamed up with Aardman for a new collaborative animated project.
- A teased for the project was shared on social media, confirming it will be released in 2027.
- Very little else is known and present. We don’t even know if it will be a movie or a TV series akin to Pokemon Concierge.
Pokemon‘s collaborations with other companies can often feel so random that it’s usually impossible to predict what it might do next. For example, I’d be surprised if anyone saw the team-up announced today coming ahead of time. The Pokemon Company has revealed it is working on a new animated project with Wallace & Gromit creators Aardman which is set to be released in 2027.
Pokemon confirmed the surprise team-up via a short animation it shared on social media. Two balls of clay, one white and one red, combine before a third piece of black clay drops from above to create a clay Pokeball. Pokemon’s logo then appears above the creation with Aardman’s sliding in underneath.

Pokemon Has Already Added 25 Episodes Of The Anime To Its New YouTube Channel
It’s not even been a week and there’s already nine hours of the anime up on Pokemon TV.
VGC has provided some additional details on what to expect from the project, although at this early stage, it seems the main detail is that there isn’t much to go on at present. Neither Pokemon nor Aardman has confirmed whether the project in question will be a TV show or a movie, but higher-ups at both companies have spoken about how excited they are about working together on the upcoming project.
Pokemon And Aardman Are Working On Something Together
I Wonder What Wallace’s Partner Pokemon Would Be
The Pokemon Company’s VP of marketing and media Taito Okiura noted that “Aardman are masters of their craft,” adding that Pokemon fans are in for a treat when it comes to what they’ve been working on, suggesting work on whatever it is has been ongoing for a while already. Aardman’s managing director Sean Clarke said it’s an honor to have the chance to work with The Pokemon Company and to be trusted to bring its characters to life in a brand new way.
Aardman is a British animation company best known for Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run with everything it has created so far cementing it as the world leader in stop-motion, claymation work, hence why The Pokemon Company has sought out its expertise for whatever this next project is. Aardman has presumably been focused on its work with Pokemon after completing Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl which will be released on Netflix on January 3, 2025.
If I were to guess what exactly this project is going to look like, I’d lean towards what we were treated to via Pokemon Concierge. While not clay, the stop-motion series, which is currently available on Netflix, was a huge success and one of the better things Pokemon has put its name to in recent history. Something like that made of clay, and with the minds at Aardman behind it, could potentially be fantastic.
