Mobile Legends M6 World Championship experienced a heartfelt moment today. Falcon Esports’ coach Rodel “Ar Sy” B.Cruz gave an emotional speech at the ongoing grand finals of MLBB M6 World Championship 2024 in Malaysia. The coach was touched by the sacrifices of his roster and pleaded with the authorities to bring back MPL Myanmar.
Falcon Esports lost their lower bracket quarterfinal match today against Team Spirit in a 1-3 scoreline. After the defeat, the coach delivered an emotional speech on the current issues in Myanmar and how the players missed an official event.
Myanmar has a big potential in MLBB esports, the coach said after Falcon Esports lost in the M6
During the press conference, GamingonPhone had the opportunity to ask a few questions about the coach’s view on MLBB Esports in Myanmar. The coach is moved by the players, fans, and esports personnel in the country. That’s why despite having an ongoing civil war in the country, he urges MOONTON to bring back the MPL Myanmar.
He then shared some thoughts on the overall esports system in the country and also the possible expansion of MLBB in other regions. When we got a chance to ask a few questions, We told him that despite being a Philippino he was there. So, how does it feel like what is the scene he saw? He said, “Obviously, there’s big potential in Myanmar. Especially when it comes to M2, Myanmar has already shown that the Burmese server is not easy. We give ONIC PH a good fight. And all of the players are super passionate, they love this game so much.“
As we further spoke, we asked him about his thoughts on why MPL Myanmar didn’t come back. He believes it is because of the government. But wanted to ask more on the issue and also presented a scene to see his reaction on if the game comes back in the next season. “It will be very exciting! There are so many teams and players and they deserve the MPL. They’re so eager to prove their capabilities. Not only Burmese Ghouls or Falcon, so many teams are there,” he said.
Burmese teams will be more competitive in the next season, and will through strong challenges against others
So, we also asked Ar Sy on the competitive scene in Myanmar. We wanted to know his expectations for the next season of World Championship, the M7, for his team. He replied with a laugh and said that it would be more difficult to defeat the team, for sure.
Then the coach talked about the biggest difference between having an organized tournament like MPL Malaysia twice a year and right now with the M6 Qualifier. “I think the MLBB Esports scene is more and more popular now. The tournaments and the prizes are bigger,” he said.
MLBB esports should scout in other regions like North America and China
We asked about the dependence or if there’s any because the absence of MPL Myanmar affects the esports ecosystem. He said some important things in answer. “I don’t know. Maybe it’s half the people feel like it’s unfair to not have an MPL. Again, some may think it doesn’t have much potential. So, I asked again and again to scout in more regions like North America, China, etc.”
Burmese teams are good against global leaders, but MPL Myanmar has still been at a halt since 2020
The last event of MPL Myanmar took place four years ago, in 2020. After being hosted 5 times, the sixth one couldn’t make it live. Myanmar has a bright history in the M series. In the second edition, the Mobile Legends M2 World Championship, the country’s representative Burmese Ghouls became the runner-up.
Burmese teams have been putting good performance in the World Championship series for quite some time. Both Falcons and Ghouls earned respected spots in the championship over the years. Apart from the runner-up title in M2, both the teams performed well and placed in the top 6 several times.
MLBB Esports scene is dominated by SEA countries, especially Indonesia and the Philippines. While a few other countries could match their power, Mynamar is undoubtedly one of them. However, we hope the game will soon take some action on these issues.
