Path of Exile 2 early access has been bigger than developer Grinding Gear Games could possibly have hoped for, with more than a million keys sold and player numbers pushing it into the upper echelons of Steam’s most-played list. But as the Diablo 4 rival succeeds beyond expectations, that means even more work on the table for GGG. While it managed to get early server hiccups largely under control in remarkably short order, it’s still having trouble keeping up with the vast number of support requests coming in from players.
As my Path of Exile 2 early access review attests, Grinding Gear Games has built something rather special with the sequel to the decade-old PoE. Rather than simply sticking with everything that made the first game one of the best RPGs on PC, it has shaken up its formula and made a challenging yet more approachable take on the format. There’s still plenty of work to be done – this is early access, after all – but what’s already there in the current form of Path of Exile 2 is well on the way to winning hearts and minds.
“We’ve had a massive amount of players logging into Path of Exile 2 since launch, which has been amazing to see,” the GGG community team writes in a post to its forums. “Unfortunately, such a huge influx of players also generates an enormous amount of support requests.” Whether it’s players struggling to get their Steam keys or trying to ensure their purchased cosmetic items and Path of Exile 2 Twitch drops are available for use, there are many reasons to submit a support ticket.
Because of this volume, GGG says it’s “currently looking at turnaround times that are much longer than expected on new emails, where we’d usually be aiming for responses within the same day, if not the same hour.” To help fix this, the developer is already hiring new support staff to handle the increased number of incoming requests “so that we can decrease the backlog as soon as possible.”
GGG asks players who have already submitted a ticket to not send follow-up messages to check on the status “as this can create further delays.” It reassures those waiting on a response that the support team “will get back to you as soon as humanly possible.” It’s also taken additional steps to improve the capacity of its ticket processing system. “We greatly appreciate your patience while we work through this initial rush of support requests, and we’ll endeavor to improve our response times as quickly as we can.”
Rest assured that the team is working to fix everyone’s specific problems as quickly as it can, then. In the meantime, a first balance pass has arrived in a pretty substantial Path of Exile 2 patch tackling many of the biggest complaints. With better checkpoints, improved loot drops, and a more elusive dodge on the list, it’s clear that GGG is taking community feedback under consideration.
We’ve got everything you need to make it to the endgame, whether you’re after the best Path of Exile 2 builds, on the hunt for every single reward from all PoE 2 bosses, or trying to figure out how Path of Exile 2 respec works.
