This quest will keep you busy with tasks like defeating bosses, leveling up professions, meeting magical creatures, picking a faction, and collecting glowing items. Here’s a detailed guide to help you finish Nullify the Corruption in Brighter Shores.

How To Start Nullify The Corruption In Brighter Shores

Before hopping into the walkthrough, here’s a quick checklist of what you need to start the Nullify the Corruption quest in Brighter Shores:

Once you step into Hopeforest and meet Corporal Binns, he tasks you with continuing your guard training by locating fellow recruits hiding in the area. While searching for them, you end up splitting from your ally, Jermais, and find yourself in Dryad Glade, where a stag is attacking a Dryad (a magical creature). Simply interact with Dryad to begin the Nullify the Corruption quest.

How To Beat The Mutant Stag In Brighter Shores

The Mutant Stag is a Level 10 foe with incredible strength, so taking it on at a lower Scout level is pretty hard. Players need to rank up to at least Level 12 in the new combat profession to have a solid shot at defeating it. To level up your Scout profession, kill enemies that are at the same level as you or lower. You can view unlocked enemies by clicking the Professions icon at the top-right of your screen and navigating to Scout button. Early on, Ragged Outlaws and Vagabond Goblins are great targets for earning experience. Additionally, you’ll need better armor and weapons. Vipers, Wendigos, Outlaws, and Goblins drop a ton of gear ranging from uncommon to rare, so be sure to kill them to access the items.

There’s an
Obelisk
inside the Goblin Camp, so you can easily tune your kit there without needing to travel back to Hopeport. Also, there’s a
portal
inside the
Hopeforest Central Portal Stone
area that will help you teleport back to Episode Two sooner if you get injured and wake up in Hopeport’s Infirmary. Make sure to discover these two areas and activate the portal, as they will make things easier for you.

Location Of The Magic Cave In Brighter Shores

After you kill the stag, the Dryad explains it was possessed by some dark corruption and asks for your help to deal with it. She hands you a Dryad Leaf and gives you two hints to find a mysterious spot: it’s up north where crows fly, and you’ll see orange irises there. In short, she’s pointing you toward the Magic Cave.

To find the Magic Cave, start by heading east from Dryad Glade until you reach the North Central Path, then turn north. When you arrive at Stump Clearing, take the first road on the left and continue west through Tangled Path and Tangled Lane. You’ll notice some crows and orange trees there. Next, go north into Narrow Path and keep moving until you reach Thin Trail. At this point, you’ll hit a dead end. Now, invoke the Dryad Leaf by clicking on the Main Story board and tapping on it. This will trigger a cutscene in which the Dryad appears and unlocks the Magic Cave.

Choose Your Class In Brighter Shores

Inside the Magic Cave, you’ll meet two magical beings along with the Dryad. She will ask you to select your faction. Each class is legendary and comes with its own unique benefits, so choose one based on your preference. To pick a class in Brighter Shores, simply click on the magic structure of your choice and hit ‘Stand In.’ This step is important to prepare for the next part of the quest.

Find The Source Of Corruption In Brighter Shores

Next, you need to stop the dark, corrupted magic that is spreading across the forest. To clear the source of corruption, head to Crystal Clearing and heal the Giant Crystal. There are two ways to get there: one requires you to have Woodcutter level eight, and the other, though not specified, requires you to have a high Scout level (as you’ll be fighting plenty of Shades along the way).

  • To reach Crystal Clearing with Woodcutter level eight, head back to Stump Clearing and take the east trail to Stumped Path. Continue east to Shortcut (chop the Brambles), then follow the path to Twisted Junction, Overgrown Trail, and finally enter Crystal Clearing.
  • Alternatively, head north from Stump Clearing to Treeway Junction, turn right onto Treeway Trail, and follow the Twisted Road. Turn south to Twisted Junction, then east to Overgrown Trail, and you’ll reach your destination.

At Crystal Clearing, you’ll find your fellow guard, Jermais, turned hostile due to the emission of dark magic. You’ll have to fight him as a level 12 boss.

Make sure you’re one level ahead in the Scout profession to be on the safer side to defeat him quickly.

Cure The Giant Crystal In Brighter Shores

After Jermais is down, the Dryad will ask you to help her cure the crystal completely. Upon your inquiry, she will share that the Giant Crystal absorbs magic and then amplifies it. Since it is filled with corrupted magic, you’ll need to pour into it some distilled magic to heal it. Luckily, there are some magic sources in the Hopeforest that will help you finish the job.

  • Glowing Beetles: Catch two from the Overgrown Trail and use them on the Giant Crystal.
  • Glowing Mushroom: Found in the Mushroom Grove, south of the Bramble Path near the Crystal Clearing.
  • Glowing Honey: Defeat the level 20 Giant Two Headed Bear in the Two Headed Bear Clearing and extract honey from the Glowing Bee Hive (you’ll need to use a jar to get it).
  • Glowing Fern: Found beyond the Ferry Crossing River near Hopeforest Ferry. Kill the Mutant Newt and pick the fern from the ground.

When all the magical items are collected, head back to the Crystal Clearing. Click on the Giant Crystal, then tap on the ‘Use items on‘ option to apply each glowing item to the crystal one by one. After the Giant Crystal is cleansed, the Dryad will inform you about more corruption spreading from the Mine of Mantuban. Head to the mine in the southeast section of Hopeforest, near the Barricades, and speak to the guard. He’ll direct you to get permission from Captain Jal Degreene.

Talking to the Barricades Guard will complete the Nullify the Corruption quest in Brighter Shores. This unlocks the final quest, for which you’ll need to teleport back to Hopeport, meet Captain Degreene, and level up to Hopeforest level 60 to gain clearance.
