With the release of Scarlet and Violet, fans saw Pokemon TCG welcome Gen 9 with new sets and cards. The first release was the self-titled set, which arrived in March last year with 256 new cards in English. Since then, another seven main sets have come out, as well as three special sets. Cards focusing on Kanto’s pocket monsters were introduced in 151, while Paldean Fates launched the first Gen 9 shiny cards, and Shrouded Fable marked Pecharunt’s trading card debut.

Now, PokeBeach has revealed that the Journey Together set will be released on March 28, 2025, with the pre-release taking place from March 15 to 23. Although it is unknown how many cards it will have, this will be the ninth main Gen 9 set to arrive after Pokemon TCG‘s Surging Sparks, the most recent set, which added 252 new cards, including Stellar Tera Pokemon ex. PokeBeach notes that the English set will be based on the Japanese counterpart named Battle Partners, which arrives on January 24, 2025, in Japan. Along with revealing the new English set, PokeBeach confirmed that Battle Partners will see the return of Pokemon Owners, a classic card type featuring critters of well-known characters.
New Pokemon TCG Set Revealed Along With Potential Return of Classic Gimmick
The Japanese set will feature Iono, a name well-known to Pokemon TCG fans, in card sleeves and deck boxes. Japan will also release “Collection Files” with N’s Zoroark ex and Lillie’s Clefairy ex, as well as pre-built decks of Steven and Marie. The N cards, including the two Reshiram variants, Lillie, and Marie’s Grimmsnarl ex, were revealed at the closing ceremony of this year’s Pokemon World Championships. Speculation is that they may be in Journey Together along with the cards Arven’s Mabosstiff, Misty’s Psyduck, and Ethan’s Pichu, although this information is not confirmed.
