Manufacturers continue to produce more white PC cases, gaming keyboards, and gaming mice. Black gear dominated desktops for years, but trends have brought brighter colorways into fashion. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find white gaming monitors to complete setups. MSI is tackling the issue by releasing a lighter version of their highly-rated MPG 321URX QD-OLED monitor. While it’s not yet available in North America, we expect a release before or just after CES 2025.
As stylish as white monitors are, they can reflect ambient light, making images appear a bit washed out. MSI perhaps realized this drawback and clad the MPG 321URXW with more silver than white. The overall look is still distinctly different from black alternatives, with less effect on image clarity. With minimal bezels showing, the OLED monitor is otherwise unassuming. MSI retains the dash of RGB lighting on its backside, which is likely no substitute for an LED backlighting kit.

The MSI MPG 321URX is a 32-inch 4K gaming monitor with all the benefits of a stunning QD-OLED panel. Black levels and color accuracy far surpass cheaper panel technology. Competitive gamers will appreciate the MPG 321URX’s 240 Hz refresh rate and rock-bottom 0.03ms GtG response time. PS5 Pro and console owners won’t find a better monitor since it supports full bandwidth through its dual HDMI 2.1 ports. With sharp text and an adjustable ergonomic stand, the MSI MPG 321URX is also ideal for productivity and graphic design.

MSI’s white monitor shares the same specs as the black MPG 321URX, so buyers aren’t in for surprises. Although the monitor requires a significant investment, it was more affordable than some rivals were when it was released early this year. I purchased the Gigabyte M32U 32″ 4K with IPS panel in 2021 for a similar price. It’s refreshing to see high-resolution OLED monitors dropping to more reasonable levels.
What Makes QD-OLED Monitors Superior?
IPS monitors produce sharp text and wide viewing angles, but struggle with darker scenes. QD-OLED alternatives like the MPG 321URXW have superior contrast ratios. Whether images are bright or dark, color accuracy remains top-notch. With DisplayHDR True Black 400 active, MSI’s monitor reaches a slightly higher peak brightness than other OLED 4K monitors.

Esports monitors with 240 Hz or higher refresh rates are now more common. However, competitive gaming often takes place on cheaper panels rather than an OLED. With full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, the MPG 321URXW makes an exceptional Series X or PS5 Pro monitor. PC gamers will more likely rely on the monitor’s DisplayPort 1.4a connection. The white MPG 321URXW will look outstanding in a trendy office, and KVM functionality consolidates workstations. Following a recent pattern, MSI’s monitor also has a USB-C port to recharge and display video from a laptop.
The MPG 321URXW is part of a small crop of 32″ 4K OLED monitors with 240 Hz refresh rates. Often compared to the Odyssey OLED G8, Samsung’s monitor boasts better smart TV apps, but lacks a KVM, making it less appealing as a work monitor. The ASUS ROG Swift PG32UCDM is another similar display with the bonus of Dolby Vision support. None of these monitors are white, so we will see if these manufacturers follow MSI’s lead with more color options.
MSI will sell the MPG 321URXW through various retailers at a steep $1099, just as soon as it’s in stock in North America. Buyers not concerned with the monitor’s color may be better off scooping up the black MPG 321URX at a discount.
