MLBB M6: Selangor Red Giants advance after taking down RRQ Hoshi

Selangor Red Giants are the sole Malaysian team in the MLBB M6 World Championship after their compatriots in Team Vamos faced an early defeat in the Knockout Stage. Competing on their own turf, they are carrying the hopes of the entire Malaysian region, which realizes that this is their best chance at the M Worlds trophy.

So far, Indonesia has won the championship once at M1, while the Philippines has dominated for the past four years. Fnatic ONIC PH, the lone Filipino team left at this stage of MLBB M6, had earlier knocked SRG down to the lower bracket.

In the clash between RRQ Hoshi and Selangor Red Giants, the Malaysians were the favorites coming into the match—and they didn’t disappoint. While RRQ Hoshi managed to take Game 2, SRG didn’t allow them another win.

With their 3-1 victory, Selangor Red Giants advance to the Lower Bracket Semifinals, where they will face Team Spirit. The CIS team, currently on surprising form in the MLBB M6 Knockout Stage, had earlier eliminated Team Vamos from Malaysia.

The storyline going into this match is whether Selangor can take revenge or if the underdogs from the CIS region will play spoilsport to the dreams of both Malaysian teams. The answer will be revealed on Dec. 14, 2024, at 6 AM GMT.

The Lower Bracket Semifinal will shift from the IOI City Mall to the grand stage of the Axiata Arena. This is the same venue where the inaugural M World Championship took place. This time, the tournament features a prize pool of $1 million.
