Rocket Raccoon is a scrappy hero in Marvel Rivals with a ton of utility that can really give your team a boost in the fight. Here’s how to play him.

Hulk Abilities Overview

As Bruce Banner:

  • Gamma Ray Gun: A basic projectile attack that inflicts damage at a long distance and charges the Gama Energy meter.
  • Puny Banner: When the Gamma Energy Meter is full, Banner transforms into the Incredible Hulk, gaining new abilities, HP, damage, and an Ultimate.
  • Gamma Grenade: Launches a grenade that explodes, causing AoE damage, and launches enemies up. Restores 50 Gamma Energy.

As Hulk:

  • Heavy Blow: Basic Melee attack, causes moderate damage.
  • Hulk Smash: Becomes Monster Hulk, Increasing Damage, HP, Attack Speed, and Reducing Damage, as well as unlocking World Breaker. While transforming, Hulk becomes Invulnerable.
  • Indestructible Guard: Hulk releases Gamma Energy, creating a barrier for him and his allies that blocks a certain amount of damage. The barrier decays over time.
  • Radioactive Lockdown: Hulk emits a pulse of Gamma Energy, which briefly immobilizes the first target it hits. Hitting the target with a Heavy Blow or Gamma Burst breaks the effect.
  • Incredible Leap: Press and hold the Jump button to charge a leap. The more it charges, the further Hulk jumps. Incredible Leap can bring down flying enemies if Hulk smashes them in the air.
  • Gamma Burst: Emits a burst of energy as a directional ranged attack, damaging enemies.
  • Gamma Boost – Team-Up Passive: Hulk gains 150 Health while playing alongside Dr. Strange or Iron Man. Dr. Strange also gains an empowered version of Maelstrom of Madness called Gamma Maelstrom. Iron Man, on the other hand, can upgrade himself with a gamma boost when using Armor Overdrive.
  • Gamma Fastball – Team-Up Active Skill: When Hulk and Wolverine are on the same team, they can initiate a special combo attack while nearby. Hulk will pick up and throw Wolverine up to 20 meters.

Wanda Maximoff is as her chaotic best in Marvel Rivals, so long as players know how best to utilize her attacks and abilities.

As Monster Hulk:

  • World Breaker: When transformed into Monster Hulk, all of Hulk’s abilities gain boosted damage; plus, he can use World Breaker to grab the first enemy on the range and repeatedly smash him against the ground. This causes huge damage and knocks back the target (if it is still alive after that).

Hulk has a curious gameplay style since he has three different forms: Bruce Banner, The Hulk, and Monster Hulk. As Bruce Banner, this character is weak and can be easily squashed with a good skillshot. However, as Hulk, he acquires powerful tanking abilities such Indestructible Guard, whichshields nearby allies.

Radioactive Lockdown is great for locking in place those pesky opponents like Iron Fist, who love to move around and break the backline into pieces. So, Hulk’s kit is quite complete with repositioning thanks to Incredible Leap, and it also has a lot of great synergies thanks to his Team-Up passives. It is also great to pin down dangerous foes like Punisher, which grow when the rival team is distracted.

Hulk has few counters since he is quite powerful and resilient. His only defect is that he transforms back to Banner once it drops to 0, and then can be easily killed. But don’t underestimate the human version of the Emerald Giant since Banner is equipped with a grenade that not only recharges his gamma energy but pushes foes up and gives him a brief window to escape.

Incredible Leap is the perfect gap closer, allowing Hulk to bring down flying opponents like Storm and Iron Man. But he cannot jump vertically, so climbing on a high ledge will grant him an extra advantage to perform a good aerial takedown.

How To Play Hulk In Marvel Rivals

Convoy Mode

During Defense, starting the fight as Banner can give players the edge since they have plenty of time to position themselves and aim their Gamma Grenade at the enemy spawn zone. This will delay the enemies and give Bruce a brief instant to hide and Hulk Out, which can take enemies by surprise if they’re still expecting to face the Puny Banner.

Hulk is a tank, so he relies on his team’s cooperation to get kills and capture objectives. In Defense mode, he excels at protecting targets and holding the area, preventing the enemy from approaching the payload.

During Offense, thanks to Incredible Leap, Hulk can literally fall from the sky and smash his foes. Using Radioactive Lockdown, Hulk can pin down opponents with high mobility, like Iron Fist, Star-Lord, and Jeff The Land Shark.

Protecting the team might seem like a secondary objective, and escorting the payload would be the best approach, but don’t get distracted by this, as the entire team needs to stick together to survive. Herd them all and use Indestructible Guard to grant them mitigation.

Domination Mode

In Domination, Hulk can smash really hard, especially when accompanied by Dr. Strange and Iron Man. Wolverine is also a great choice for this game mode since he and Hulk can perform a Fast Ball Special, Wolverine’s Iconic attack. Jump in the middle of the fray and start piling up Gamma Energy, then transform into Monster Hulk and grab priority targets like Thor, Venom, Penni Parker, or Iron Fist and crush them with World Breaker.

This ultimate attack can blast most of the other Vanguard (except maybe Venom) and send them reeling to the respawn zone, but it will also finish Monster Hulk transformation, so choose wisely the right moment to use it.

Most of the time, Hulk will be rotating between the frontline and the backline to protect his Strategists, so keep an eye out for Psylocke, Cloak & Dagger, Moon Knight, and Black Panther since they can mess up allies in a matter of seconds. Jeff the Land Shark is also quite a menace and the perfect counter for Hulk.

His ultimate can swallow a whole team and then throw them into a Killzone, clearing out the area to be taken by his allies. So watch out when you hear him singing the Jaws song, and perform an Incredible Leap to evade his attack.

Convergence Mode

During Defense, as with the Convoy Mode, protecting the area once it is taken will be Hulk’s top priority. Once the objective is secure, Hulk can hold the ground indefinitely unless it is subjected to a powerful swarm attack or Jeff kicks him out with his ultimate.

The truth is, Hulk is quite op, and his HP bar is second to none, so sticking to a healer and holding the zone while the rest of the team deals damage from a safe distance is a good choice. Bringing the house down using his transformation into Monster Hulk is a great way to get out of sticky situations since he becomes invulnerable while transforming, giving him some precious extra seconds to hold the line while the team arrives.

Hulk can use all his transformations to gain Super Armor (Invulnerability) for a few seconds. This gives him an extra advantage and a way to counter overwhelm tactics. But watch out for when Hulk turns into the Puny Banner since he is quite squishy and can be taken down instantly.

During Offense, Hulk can associate with other Vanguards like Venom to create a good frontline capable of resisting every blow. The enemy will be holed up and probably using deployable tactics (Punisher’s Turet, Rocket Raccoon’s support stations, etc.) to blast attackers away. Hawkeye and Black Widow working together can be quite a menace, especially if Hawkeye activates his ultimate near her since it basically grants them auto-aim.

So, to avoid getting into the Killzone, follow Venom and conduct a pincer attack alongside the Duelists. Divide the supports into two groups, one accompanying Hulk and Venom and the other with the rest of the team. Hulk can then jump to become a very obvious target/bullet sponge and the rest of the team are clear to do their job.

How To Counter Hulk In Marvel Rivals

Convoy Mode

During Defense, Hulk will be leading the charge, so wait for the right moment when he has spent his Indestructible Guard, then make a move on him, blasting that giant green thing with everything in the arsenal. But don’t slay Banner once he transforms.

Instead, let him live, as it will take longer for him to replenish his Gamma Counter than to kill him and make him respawn with full energy. This way, he will remain less useful to the team for longer. Just make sure to dodge his grenades and Gamma Blaster.

During Offense, most teams tend to panic when Hulk is lurking around, so they might be missing Banner trying to make a move on them by stalling for time using the grenade + transformation combo. Prioritize wiping him out on sight.

A well-placed sniper shot from Black Widow or Hawyeke will thwart his strategy or force him into turning to Hulk. When this happens, it is all about kiting him away from the team, as Hulk works best when surrounded by allies. Winter Soldier can use his Bionic Hook to pull him, and then the rest of the team can swiftly break him to pieces.

Domination Mode

In Domination, Hulk excels as a placeholder, a huge obstacle for the team that impedes them from taking over the zone. Jeff The Land Shark is the best counter for this situation since he can swallow Hulk and throw him into a death zone.

No transformation means no Invulnerability, so keep an eye out for opportunities to munch him and spit him out of the battlefield. Thor can do a similar thing, using his Storm Surge to push him out of place. He is a big target, so there’s no chance of missing him.

Convergence Mode

During Defense, Hulk will lead a pincer attack with other Vanguards and Duelists, and the best approach here is to position the team in a spread pattern, remaining vigilant of all entrances. Iron Fist, Black Panther, and Star-Lord are good chasers, and their mobility and in-and-out skills can become critical to counter gank teams led by Hulk.

During Offense, Hulk will prioritize defending the objective, so the best way to deal with him is to pull him out of the zone. Using Magik or Luna Snow to lure him out is a great strategy. Magneto can also force him into a one vs. one and move him away from the zone. But, as with all other game modes, Jeff the Land Shark seems to be the best choice to sweep him out in one bite. That thing is broken.

Best Team Composition For Hulk In Marvel Rivals

The best team composition for Hulk in Marvel Rivals includes Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Wolverine, Jeff The Land Shark, and The Punisher. Since Bruce Banner/Hulk/Monster Hulk gets extra seasonal bonuses and team bonuses when playing alongside two of the original Avengers, it is a great idea to have Strange and Stark playing along Banner.

On the other hand, the unique interaction between Hulk and Wolverine is fun to play and highly effective against snipers like Black Widow and Hawkeye, which are part of the current meta. Finally, Jeff The Land Shark is the ideal support for Hulk since he can constantly heal and pivot between attack and support. Punisher is the ideal ranged DPS who can support Jeff and protect him from rushers like Iron Fist.
