How To Link Gear In Chat In Path of Exile 2

The chat feature in Path of Exile 2 is great for communicating with other players, sharing information, and connecting. While the game can be played solo, you can form parties of up to six people and play through the entire game with your allies.

While you can directly play with other players, you’ll also be around other players you’re not directly playing with in Hub towns, all while interacting through chat if you want. One cool feature of chat is the ability to link items; here’s how to do it.

Passive Skill Points are the basis for any build in Path of Exile 2; here’s how to get more, outside of just leveling up.

You can link items to chat whenever and wherever you want, just be sure there are no monsters around that may be attacking you while you’re in the character menu. To link items you’ll need to have the chat menu open:

  • Open the character menu.
  • Look along the bottom left corner of the screen for the, “Toggle Chat” option.
  • With the chat menu open, scroll over to your inventory and hover over the item you want to link.
  • Select the, “Link to chat” button which is found at the bottom of the screen.
  • Click the chat bar next to type out your message and send it, with the item linked to your next message sent.

Once linked to a message, you or other players can hover over that message to get all of the stats of that weapon. Linking items to chat just shows them off, and you won’t be putting them up for trade or getting rid of them in any way. You’ll need to individually link items to each message, even if you want to relink the same item multiple times.

Make sure you are sending a message in either the global or local chat to make sure other players actually see your message.

A Message With A Linked Item About To Be Sent

Linking items to a message can be a great way to show off powerful loot or show another player exactly what item you are talking about when it comes to the various upgrade materials. Path of Exile 2 has a lot of items that can be used to upgrade your character and their gear, with some even having similar names, so linking an item can help avoid any confusion. Linking items in chat can also be a great way to get the word out about trading if you want to get rid of a valuable item for something that fits your build better.
