How to get Mr Dappermint Fortnite Skin

As part of the latest update, a new free Fortnite skin has been enabled in-game, but how to get Mr Dappermint in Fortnite a little early? The skin is quite clearly a Christmas themed one, in line with what we normally get over Winterfest. Is the skin being enabled early or can you easily unlock it just by locking in?

Mr Dappermint in Fortnite is a fun new skin, clearly themed after a candy cane. Surprisingly, it’s been one of a couple of new free Fortnite skins enabled with the most recent update. However, what’s weird about Mr Dappermint is he wasn’t always free. This is one of those cases where Epic has given out a skin for free, after players bought it already in the past. What does this mean for those who have already spent V-Bucks and how can everyone get the new skin?

How to Get Mr Dappermint Free Fortnite Skin

An unexpected part of the latest Fortnite update has been bringing in more free skins. One to celebrate the new Lego mode fits with what was released last year with the initial Lego launch. However, Dappermint is a bit more surprising. Players have found him unlocked as soon as they’ve logged in for some reason.

Often we get free skins for Winterfest, usually in the style of Mr Dappermint. A special holiday-themed outfit. However, getting a skin that already exists is a bit of a surprise. However, actually unlocking it does take a bit more work than just logging in. Some got it automatically by having already completed the steps. To unlock Mr Dappermint, all you need to do is link your Lego and Epic accounts.

These same steps were required last year for another free Fortnite skin. We’ll have to make sure the accounts are still connected to receive this one though.

Why is it Free?

Free Fortnite skins are kind of rare, but there are some occasions when we frequently get them. There are a few times when we expect free skins, like Winterfest. Lately, it seems Epic launching major new modes is a time to give away free skins too. This current giveaway follows a similar one this time last year, when Festival, Lego, and Rocket Racing each launched with a free skin. Mr Dappermint might have been chosen for his fun and well-developed Lego version.

What Happens to Those Who Bought Mr Dappermint?

The big question with Mr Dappermint Fortnite skin isn’t really how to get it, but what’s going to happen or those who already did. Mr Dappermint isn’t a new creation for a free skin. He’s not even a barely modified one, like the Santa hat Bushranger from a previous Winterfest. He was at one point sold in the Item Shop, for 1,200 V-Bucks.

We don’t know exactly how it’ll be handled just yet. Epic’s usual move in these situations is refunds though. They’ve previously done this for as much as bringing a skin back to the item shop. We might be able to expect players to receive their V-bucks spent on Mr Dappermint returned now that it’s been given away for free.
