One of the most exciting new tournaments for Chapter 6 isn’t in Battle Royale, but the newly launched Fortnite OG Cups. As mainline Fortnite continues to grow and embrace different ways of playing, Epic has finally added a permanent offering for players who prefer the old style of the game. Fortnite OG, a rotating mode recreating the oldest seasons of Fortnite. Rather than just a side game though, Fortnite OG might be getting its own esports scene.
The first of these tournaments is the Fortnite OG Cups. Brand new cash cups added this season. Alongside events like the Cash Cups, FNCS, and PlayStation Cups in Battle Royale players can compete for cash in OG too.
In format, it’s quite familiar to players of the older cash cups. Players jump in online in a limited window, with their points counting towards an overall leaderboard. These events are going to be held regularly over the next weeks. What can we expect and how can you take part in the Fortnite OG Cups?
Fortnite OG Cups Format
One of the first events for the new Fortnite OG mode is going to be these cash cups. To play, you’ll need to queue up into the tournament in-game on the right day. Then, you’ll get three hours to play ten games. Over these games, you’ll earn points from placement and kills to rise up the leaderboard. It’s a single-session event, with this one session deciding who gets the prize. It’s a common format for Fortnite esports but the unique mode will definitely make it fun to play.
The exact scoring system isn’t in the official rules yet. However, we can expect players to get points for placement, with the mot or 1st. Followed by a point or two for kills. These could be changed for OG though, the mode does put more focus on survivability than 9n other games.
When Will the Cups Begin?
The tournament series has been announced and we’ve got a look at some o the official rules. However, prizes and dates are still a mystery. We’ll keep an eye out for more information. Once we get Fortnite Ranked added to this mode, we’ll then know a little more about what’s coming!
