CD Projekt Red is reciprocating the love Balatro showed Cyberpunk 2077 a couple of months ago by adding a quest based on the roguelike card game. It’s one of the new secrets that’s now discoverable in Night City after the recent launch of Update 2.2 for the action-RPG.
The official Balatro account on X teased the crossover, showcasing that the poker-inspired game’s joker mascot–named Jimbo–appears as graffiti in Cyberpunk 2077 now. That led to CD Projekt Red global PR director Radek Grabowski revealing that the collaboration is official and part of a new in-game quest.
“Some time ago, I asked the Quest Design team at CDPR: “You liked the Cyberpunk cards in Balatro? What if we had Balatro cards in Cyberpunk 2077?” Thanks to the talented quest designer Maria Mazur, we now have the Balatro quest in Update 2.2,” explained Grabowski on X. “Amazing work, Maria!”
Grabowski added on X that the Cyberpunk 2077 joker found originally in Balatro as part of an update for that game is now also in the action-RPG, too. The PR director gave a shout-out to CD Projekt Red artist Olgierd Ciszak for the design.
Just like The Witcher and Cyberpunk cards in Balatro, the “Cyberpunk Joker” you can now discover in Cyberpunk 2077 as part of the Update 2.2 has been created in-house by Olgierd Ciszak – one of CDPR’s talented artists. ✨ pic.twitter.com/FzhXEaOMAH

Cyberpunk 2077 received the unexpected Update 2.2 earlier this week. The patch brings about expanded customization for cars in Night City, more rides to collect, an overhauled photo mode, and more.
Previously, Cyberpunk 2077 almost had a Witcher 3 crossover that could have seen Geralt of Rivia in Night City. Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that a PS5 Pro patch isn’t happening for Cyberpunk 2077.
