Best Clothing Kits In The Sims 4

The Sims 4 kits come in different types: Architecture and Decor, Everyday Activities, Outdoor Adventures, Creator Kit, Family and Friends, and Fashion and Style. These themes span build mode, gameplay, and create-a-sim. Because the kits are so specifically focused, it means they offer items relating to just one of these particular aspects of the game.

Here we take a look at all the create a sim focused kits on offer to see which offers the most versatile range of clothing for your Sims.

For each pack, we’ve noted the kit contents in terms of item types. We haven’t split by masculine or feminine, since most items are tagged and designed primarily as feminine, but all can be worn by either gender. We have noted any items specifically designed for men or kids in the main entry.

Simtimates

The Simtimates pack is a nice idea but ultimately ends up being quite limited. While the designs are great, the items are primarily bras and pants, and most are very much designed to be shown off only in close quarters. For this reason, they are all limited in use.

There’s one shirt and a set of pyjamas, both designed for a masculine shape, and one pair of more unisex trousers, that could just about pass outside the bedroom, but mostly these items will rarely be seen. They fill a gap in your Sims wardrobe, but there’s also a reason creating a lot of underwear has never been of high priority.

Sweet Slumber Party

The Sweet Slumber Party kit is the definition of a beautifully designed but incredibly niche kit. It includes several casual nightwear items, alongside slippers, socks, and slumber party essentials.

There’s a sleepmask, facial stars, face masks and pore strips for pampering. You’ll also find two sets of cute nail designs. These do fill a gap, but most items here have very little use outside a slumber party setting. The nightwear is unique, but again, it is still incredibly limited in use.

Carnaval Streetwear

Carnaval Streetwear is as fabulous as it sounds, but you also need some fabulous Sims to pull it off. The vibrant shirts, skimpy tops, fabulous nails, and niche makeup are looks it’s hard to wear in most circumstances. It can also be very difficult to find other items to match them.

Sulani is a great place to vibe in items from this pack, but sadly you’ll just be reminded that there’s not actually a proper Carnaval in the game to celebrate. We’re all dressed up with nowhere to go.

Poolside Splash

The poolside splash kit offers a reasonable selection of swimwear, including some for children. There are mix and match tops and bottoms as well as one pieces. You’ll also get swimsuits with waterwings as well as some sunglasses, sandals and a couple of pieces of jewellry.

If you only have base game swimwear, this is a nice selection. It has bikinis, shorts, one pieces, and cover ups. Unfortunately, the waterwings and swim ring only come with swimwear and aren’t seperate, and swimwear itself has limited uses.

Throwback Fit

The Throwback Fit kit comprises a range of retro-styled sportswear. There are a few more versatile pieces in here compared to some kits, but it’s still mostly just a lot of eye-catching colour. The items are also not as varied as in other kits and are fewer in number.

A bonus of this pack is that kids finally have something. The bucket hat accessory has three versions, for toddlers to adults, and there’s also a kid’s tracksuit and top as well as a pair of sneakers. It’s just a shame there’s not a little more variety in the pieces.

Moonlight Chic

The Moonlight Chic kit is a nice selection of clothing that includes some more everyday staples, as well as some evening wear. There are even some accessories to top it off.

The reason this kit doesn’t rank higher is mostly because a number of the pieces are quite similar to things already in the game. However, if you don’t have DLC that includes such pieces as smart jackets, colour faded dresses, and cargo pants, then you’ll get more value from this kit.

Fashion Street

The Fashion Street kit has an excellent spread of items available. Not only are they balanced in terms of the item types, but there’s also a good split of male and female clothing. The pack comprises a solid selection of everyday clothes in a style under-represented in the game.

The addition of henna patterns for hands, as well as shoes and accessories, means you can really tie together a look from this pack without having to scamper for matching items. It’s like a perfect capsule wardrobe.

Grunge Revival Kit

The Grunge Revival kit is another which offers a spread of items in a specific style. There is a solid range of tops including a t-shirt, hoodie, shirt and jacket, as well as both shorts and long trousers.

The kit is perfectly accessorised by a hat, glasses, jewellry, a couple of new tattoo options, and some new nail varnish swatches. The items also match well with the Werewolf pack’s aesthetic, bringing more versatility to the grunge pieces we already have without feeling the same.

Urban Homage

The Urban Homage kit was designed with input from Ebonix, who wanted to embrace a bold and unapologetic style which means a lot to her. Self expression is key here with a selection of unique items that span several categories.

The standouts here are the jewellery pieces which comprise multiple rings, layered necklaces and multi earring combos. The clothing items include some staples, casual items and a couple of more dressy tops.

Incheon Arrivals

Incheon Arrivals is a capsule wardrobe that includes items with a good range of versatility. You can pull together looks ranging from casual jeans and a hoodie or plaid shirt, up to a smart suit, with several stops in between.

These pieces are all neutral so will easily slide into a variety of Sims wardrobes, no matter what their usual style. You’ll also find a range of pieces designed for both male and female frames with many gender-neutral options. The pack also includes outdoor coats, which are an often overlooked item.

Goth Galore

What makes the Goth Galore kit stand out is the attention to detail. The items are very mix and match with a lot of small details. There’s also a nice mix of tops, bottoms, full body items and accessories. The make up is also unique, as is the jewellery.

This kit also matches well with the Grunge kit, Vampires items and some base game looks as well. You can add small parts in to really add an edge to your look. The only downside is that it would have been good to have a couple more full body pieces as goth dresses are rare.

Modern Menswear

Modern Menswear fills a big hole in create-a-sim by being entirely crammed with clothing properly designed for masculine figured Sims. Once again this kit acts as a capsule wardrobe, with staples like jeans, casual shirts, and sweaters, alongside smarter trousers, and tops.

The most unique feature of this pack is the addition of skirts designed for male Sim’s physiques. These are not only fashionable but because they are designed for the male frame they fit far better than trying to use feminine designs. Here’s to fashion-forward male Sims.

First Fits

Everything in this kit is designed for kids, and unlike many of the items in game, it doesn’t feel like it just suits younger ones. The child age is meant to span from school starting age up to teens, or at least tweens, yet many of the items we have as a default feel like they are designed for five-year-olds.

These items are more grown-up than many children’s options and offer a well-designed and versatile wardrobe for older kids in particular, complimenting packs like Toddler Stuff well. The neutral separates mix and match and are hugely versatile for both genders. This kit is another gap filler and one that does it with versatile style.
