There’s a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 GPU inside this leaked Dell laptop

A new Dell gaming laptop has been leaked in a poster from China, sporting a massive array of next-generation hardware, including what looks like a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 GPU.

The next-gen offerings from laptop makers could shake up our best gaming laptop list, and this new Dell Pro Max 18 Plus appears to be no different. With its unannounced Intel Arrow Lake HX processor and CAMM2 RAM, it’s certainly raised the bar in the specifications department, but it’s that new Nvidia GPU that’s really interesting.

The poster was leaked on the Weibo forums in China, where it was spotted by Videocardz. This isn’t a gaming laptop, however. It’s a great indication of what to expect from future gaming laptops, but the poster is advertising Dell’s next big workstation offerings. With this in mind, it’s very possible that the “RTX 5000-class” stamp on the poster could mean the A5000. This is a workstation-based card that’s currently already available.

However, leaks of hardware using Nvidia’s next-gen RTX 5000 series are starting to appear, even if it is in the workstation sector. Built using the new Blackwell architecture, Nvidia’s next gaming GPU lineup is expected to be announced at CES 2025.

Also rumored to be announced at CES are the new Intel Arrow Lake HX chips, under the Core Ultra 200HX brand. The HX suffix is usually reserved for CPUs at the more powerful end of Intel’s mobile CPU lineup.

Aside from the potential for a next-generation GPU, CAMM2 RAM appears to be the next order of adoption business from laptop makers. The new style of RAM is actually screwed into place on the motherboard, rather than slotted in. It isn’t widely used yet, but is very slowly starting to become a favorite among manufacturers, even on desktop motherboards.

If the information in this leaked poster is true, this Dell laptop would support up to 256GB of CAMM2 RAM, as well as 16TB of storage. That’s complete overkill for a gaming laptop, but it could be useful for some workstation workloads.

The poster also boasts of what Dell is apparently calling an “Industry first [three] fan mobile workstation”. With all that hardware packed into one tiny package, it’s probably going to need it.

Gaming laptops probably won’t get the repairability advertised on the poster that the Dell Pro Max 18 Plus is going to get either. The 16-inch and 18-inch laptops are going to be geared towards those who need to easily open it up.

If you want that level of tinkering, you might want to consider one of the best mini gaming PC designs, or one of the ready-built best gaming PC options, and begin to work from there.
