Everyone is familiar with the likes of Albert Wesker and William Birkin, but the Resident Evil franchise has also produced some memorable CG movie villains, alongside those familiar names from the games. Since it’s been established the CG movies are canon within the story, it does make the events and characters included within these extra bits of content rather interesting.

Best Resident Evil Games, Ranked
The Resident Evil series is expansive, housing some of the best action and horror games ever made.
This especially goes for the villains, who Capcom can afford to be a little bit more experimental with since they don’t have the pressure of trying to blow away people’s expectations as part of a new mainline game. Not every movie villain may have stuck the landing, but some managed to say a lot about the world and wider lore of Resident Evil, while also just being unique characters in their own right.
7 Diego Gomez
A Grossly Mutated Lackey Of Arias’ With A Cool Design, But Not Much Else
Admittedly, Diego doesn’t get too much screentime throughout Resident Evil Vendetta, where he acts as a lackey to Glenn Arias, but he’s still a pretty intimidating opponent who actually has quite a tragic backstory from what little is shown. Diego is one of the many unfortunate souls in the Resident Evil universe who was forced to grow into a mutated version of his former self after almost being killed during a horrific incident, and while it had a big impact on his physical appearance, his undying love for his daughter, Maria, still remained intact, causing him to lash out at anyone who threatens her.
Diego’s assortment of heavy weapons, paired with his physical prowess and ability to merge with his master Arias near the end of Vendetta, make him a genuinely intimidating B.O.W for Chris, Leon and Rebecca to face off against. However, as mentioned, his appearances are only short, and his backstory is only briefly touched upon, which is a shame.
6 Dylan Blake
Dylan Shows How Much Of A Horrific Impact Raccoon City Had On Some Survivors
- Resident Evil Death Island
Dylan Blake, the villain of the most recent CG movie Death Island, was one of the few who managed to survive the Raccoon City Incident. However, the zombie outbreak would continue to haunt him after he would be forced to gun down his infected comrades, causing him to view the world as one big cycle of never-ending violence where justice was only a fantasy.

Best Resident Evil Games With Little Or No Backtracking
Anyone who is a little put off by the amount of backtracking involved in the original Resident Evil games ought to try these entries.
Therefore, Dylan would be the one to orchestrate an outbreak on Alcatraz island which he managed to pull off using small infection drones. He’s a character who demonstrates the horrific impact Raccoon City has had on many of its survivors, and though he’s quite easily defeated by the main characters, he does still have quite a few intriguing moments where he gets the chance to criticize the main cast and point out their flaws in trying to bring ‘justice’ to the world.
5 Frederic Downing
Frederic Does A Good Job At Hiding His Intentions, Creating A Sense Of Intrigue Into Who He Really Is
- Resident Evil Degeneration
Frederic comes across as a mysterious, yet ultimately well-intentioned ally of Claire’s for the first half of Resident Evil Degeneration. However, it’s gradually revealed that this shifty businessman knows a lot more than he’s letting on, and behind the scenes, is actually a black market dealer of deadly bio-weapons who also supplied vaccines in order to bolster his own reputation.
As a result, Downing had been the one to set numerous outbreaks into motion across the globe, but he even goes as far as to fake his own death in order to hide his activities, and almost succeeded in tricking Claire into believing he was little more than an innocent bystander. The way Downing carefully organizes multiple of the major events that occur in Degeneration makes him one of the series’ smartest villains and a tricky antagonist for Leon and Claire to take down for good.
4 Maria Gomez
Maria’s Super Strength Makes Her A Formidable Foe For Leon And Chris To Take Down
- Resident Evil Vendetta / Resident Evil Death Island
Maria, father to Diego Gomez, is the only antagonist in any of the CG movies who appears in more than one feature film, showing up in both Vendetta and Death Island. That’s certainly not a bad thing though considering this immensely powerful superwoman is always presented as a serious threat whenever she shows up on screen, even managing to go toe-to-toe with Leon in Death Island where she holds off the government agent with her impressive hand-to-hand skills.
What also makes Maria so interesting is how she came to become one of the deadliest combatants in the entire series, and whether this involved her being injected with a virus or not. This sort of phenomenon has been seen before with characters like Wesker, but it’s never explained with Maria, creating an aura of mystery that has sparked more than a few conversations online among fans.
3 Curtis Miller
Curtis’ Tragic Backstory Makes Him Feel More Human And Believable Than Many Other Villains
- Resident Evil Degeneration
Curtis Miller was one of the many who lost his loved ones to the Raccoon City Outbreak. Following the incident, he joined TerraSave as a way to protest against other big-budget pharmaceutical companies that were using people for their own selfish gains, but the young man eventually started becoming more radical in his actions, leading him to be cast out by the group and left to bottle up his anger all by himself.
In Degeneration, Curtis instigates numerous attacks in an attempt to pressure the government into releasing the classified documents surrounding their involvement in the Raccoon City Incident. All of this ends in quite an emotional final scene where Angela, Curtis’ sister who still sees the good in him, is forced to gun down her mutated brother to end his pain once and for all. Seeing a villain who is more concerned with revealing the truth of Raccoon City, rather than simply wanting to destroy the world, grants some complexity to Curtis’ character and provides a fascinating insight into the damage Raccoon has inflicted on those who witnessed it from a mental standpoint.
2 Svetlana Belikova
Svetlana Is Effortlessly Intimidating As She Willingly Plunges Her Country Into Chaos
After the events of the original three games in the series, it was established that bioweapons would inevitably start being used as weapons of war by countries that felt they could aid them in battle. This was demonstrated in a roundabout way with Resident Evil Damnation when Svetlana, the president of the Eastern Slav Republic, unleashes B.O.Ws into her own country during a brutal civil war.
While Svetlana can usually be seen sitting high and mighty in her office and talking down to Ada and Leon as if she were the second coming of Wesker, she’s also a formidable fighter, as clearly demonstrated by the epic battle between her and Ada early on in the movie. Her presence as a sort of untouchable empress who was able to spread chaos across an entire nation makes her a memorable villain who unfortunately only gets the spotlight in a single movie.
1 Glenn Arias
A Villain Who Manages To Be Creepy, Outlandish, But Also Terrifying All At The Same Time
Glenn Arias is a villain so outlandish yet terrifying that he honestly deserves to be inserted into one of the future games by Capcom if the slot is ever open. Glenn was a bioweapons dealer who had miraculously managed to create creatures that could distinguish between friend and foe, allowing him to amass an army of B.O.Ws and zombies in Vendetta who could follow his every command. As shown in the first few minutes of the movie though, he’s also one of the most skilled combatants in the series, even being able to disarm Chris Redfield, and again pushing him to the ropes during their final confrontation.
After uncovering that Glenn had been supplying bioweapons to other countries, the U.S government decided to drop a bomb on his wedding day, killing almost everyone, but leaving Arias alive with a burning hatred. This event fractured his mental state, causing him to vow revenge on the ones who took his wife from him, and even pushing him to capture Rebecca as a sick and twisted way of “Reclaiming” his late wife by replacing her with a lookalike. He manages a delicate balancing act between being creepy and disturbing, while also presenting himself as a truly dangerous enemy considering his superior intelligence and combat prowess.
