Pokemon GO has many events that happen every month, and then some that happen weekly, like Max Mondays and Spotlight Hours, which highlight a special Pokemon — or sometimes two — for that whole event that day. These events allow players to get rewards and also the chance to get some excellent and powerful Pokemon.




This week is the second Spotlight Hour for the month of December — almost all of the Pokemon on the lineup for the month are season-based Pokemon or ones normally seen around the holiday season. This guide will break down everything to know for the Spotlight Hour this week in Pokemon GO.

On December 10th, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. local time, players will be able to have a chance to catch Murkrow as the Pokemon of the week. During this Spotlight hour, players can also expect to get a bonus of 2x Catch XP, which increases how much XP is earned after catching any Pokemon during the time.

Murkrow is quite a favorite Pokemon among players. Within the Pokedex, Murkrow is # 0198 and is from the Johto Generation 2. This Pokemon is classified as both a Dark type and Flying type. Murkrow has 1,766 CP (Combat Power) and has a shiny version that can be caught.


Players can evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow for 100 candies and a Sinnoh Stone, which is a special Item. Catching this Pokemon gives the player three candies and 100 Stardust.

Additional Moves will cost the player 50 candies and 50,000 Stardust.

For players to get ready for this Spotlight Hour, they should stock up on a few key items to help improve their experience and also prepare to possibly catch a Shiny Murkrow — this Pokemon comes in purple as its Shiny form, while its original remains a dark blue. The few items players should stock up on are PokeBalls and Berries (if they can). Players should also clear or expand their Pokemon Storage, and have incense ready. All of these will help the player catch as many Murkrow as possible and even potentially catch a shiny Murkrow if they find one.


Murkrow Weaknesses & Strengths In Pokemon GO

With Murkrow being a Dark type and Flying type, this Pokemon is weak against:

  • Electric Type (160%)
  • Fairy Type (160%)
  • Ice Type (160%)
  • Rock Type (160%)

However, there is a group of Pokemon that Murkrow takes reduced damage from:

  • Dark Type (63%)
  • Ghost Type (63%)
  • Grass Type (63%)
  • Ground Type (39%)
  • Psychic Type (39%)

The best moves for Murkrow are Feint Attack (Normal Attack) and Drill Peck (Flying Charge attack), giving 9.05 DPS (Damage Per Second) and 64.50 TDO (Total Damage Output). These attacks are boosted by Fog and Windy Weather as a weather bonus.

Murkrow is
not recommended to be used in Pokemon raids
, and it also cannot be used in a Dynamax battle or found as one as of right now either.
