Payday 3 has come a long way since its launch. What was originally marred by server issues, bugs, and an array of technical problems is now greatly improved. It still can’t quite reach the heights Payday 2 continues to hit, but I’m mighty impressed with what Starbreeze has done for Payday 3 in the last year. So if you’ve been considering jumping back in, now’s the time because we just got a free heist, and it’s an old favorite.
The original Payday heist, First World Bank, has officially arrived in Payday 3. You and some friends can finally go back to where it all started, and the best part is that it’s entirely free to everyone. As Starbreeze continues to improve the FPS game after it launched with broken servers and myriad technical problems, the return of the First World Bank is a hopeful sign of things to come.
When you dive into the First World Bank, you’ve got two ways you can approach the mission. The stealth approach takes you through the bank with the help of an insider, with the vault mere steps away. If you decide to go guns blazing, however, you need to drill the security door (in one of two locations), burn through the floor, and make a break for it across the street to escape.
As you jump back into Payday 3 it’s not just the First World Bank heist that’s newly available. Starbreeze has also added a handful of free cosmetics for all players, including multiple mask patterns, weapon skins, and even a Teddy Moo outfit and mask.
The free Payday 3 First World Bank heist and update is available in the game right now.
Keep in mind that, going forward, Starbreeze says Payday 3 will have a smaller team working on the game. The game will get updated with new content, but the overall level of investment from Operation Medic Bag is being reduced. Starbreeze said that Payday 3’s first year of investment was at an “elevated level” due to all the changes and fixes, while year two will seemingly focus more on adding more reasons to play.
You can play a lot more than just Payday 3 at the moment, with all the best crime games and co-op games also worth a look at.
