Path of Exile 2 Jamanra the Abomination boss guide

Path of Exile 2 Jamanra the Abomination boss guide

How do you beat Jamanra the Abomination in Path of Exile 2? Not to be confused with Jamanra, the Risen King, this fight closes out the desert-bound Act 2 and requires a lot of patience and learning his incredibly tricky attacks – especially his two lightning pillars that will melt unwary players. If the Act 1 boss Geonor was a skill check, this form of Jamanra is a true test to sort the chaff from those able to handle the even more difficult bosses that await in Act 3 and beyond.

If you’re struggling with Path of Exile 2 like many of us are, make sure you’re up to date with the best Path of Exile 2 builds or the specific build guide for your class, like the Path of Exile 2 Mercenary class guide, that will help ensure you didn’t build too weak of a character. You should then be in with a chance of beating PoE 2 Jamanra the Abomination.

Where to find Path of Exile 2 Jamanra the Abomination

About halfway through Act 2, you’ll face Jamanra, the Risen King atop the Hilani Gates area after the Traitor’s Passage. When near death, Jamanra will flee before summoning a strong sandstorm that will stop you from advancing further, causing you to set out to build the Horn of Vastiri to dispel said storm.

To do so, you have to complete the Path of Exile 2 quests steps A Theft of Ivory, A Crown of Stone, and The City of Seven Wonders. These are three different locations that you’ll have to visit in order to make the Horn of Vastiri, which you can then use at the very tip of the Ardua Caravan, the main base for Act 2, where all the slaves are pulling it along.

From there, you must travel to Deshar, and then the Spires of Deshar, before facing Tor Gul, the Defiler. After beating him you can choose to visit The Dreadnought with Sekhema Asala. After tearing through The Dreadnought you’ll arrive at Dreadnought Vanguard where, at the end, you’ll find Jamanra, the Abomination and fight him alongside Sekhema Asala – though she isn’t much help.asala beheading jamanra in path of exile 2

How to beat Path of Exile 2 Jamanra, the Abomination

First and foremost, you’re going to want to make sure you’re at level 32 or above and have applicably leveled equipment, around the level 22 – 31 range, though don’t replace equipment if your older stuff is still marginally better when it comes to Energy Shield, Armor, or Evasion. The only exception to this is your weapon – you’re really going to want to have the highest level weapon possible with the most damage output available.

If you need a better weapon, buy it from the vendors, grind The Spires of Deshar and The Dreadnought to loot one or earn enough money to gamble for one with Risa at the Ardua Caravan.

Finally, Jamanra is weak to Cold damage, but strong against Fire and Lightning damage. Don’t worry – we beat him cleanly with only Fire damage but consider bringing along a skill like Flammability to help whittle him down.the first phase of jamanra in path of exile 2

All Jamanra, the Abomination phase one moves

Like most Path of Exile 2 bosses, Jamanra has two phases. In his first phase, he moves slowly about the arena while sending out two electrical pillars that have a high-damaging shockwave between them and move about the map.

  • By the sands – Jamanra summons a sandstorm that will quickly eat away your health, summoning several undead that attack you. Stay behind Asala’s shield and attack from a distance while dealing with the additions that get close.
  • Justice Explosion – Jamanra will cause two explosions on the ground that deal massive damage, turning the ground black. Stay behind him when he raises his arm to avoid them.
  • Electric Pillars – Jamanra will summon two pillars linked by electricity that slowly move around the map and are spread far apart. These are easy to dodge through but deal massive damage if you’re hit by them.
  • Quick Electrical Pillars – Jamanra will summon two pillars linked by electricity that are relatively close together and dart around the map, making them hard to avoid. Try to stay as far away as possible from them.
  • Unlimited Power – Jamanra shoots lightning from his fingertips in front of him. This is easy to avoid as you can simply dodge behind him and get a few hits in.

Here, Jamanra’s Dreadnought will break and the arena will change to one slightly more wide-open; however, Asala is knocked unconscious. Thankfully, you won’t need her sand shield for this part of the fight.

  • Tornadoes – Jamanra summons a persistent tornado at the beginning of the fight that roams the map. Keep your distance or dodge through them if they get close. He can summon more than one.
  • Sword Swing – Jamanra summons a massive sword and slashes down in front of him. Dodge to the right or left right before it hits.
  • Horizontal Slash – Jamanra slashes in front of him with his sword. This does high damage – dodge backward to avoid it.
  • Electric Pillars – Jamanra summons electric pillars, sometimes more than one pair, to make the battlefield more difficult to navigate. Dodge through the electricity or walk around them.
  • Ten Thousand Spears – Spears rain down to where you were standing when Jamanra began the attack animation. Move to the left or right to avoid these.
  • Lightning – Bolts crash from the sky and a charge of lightning roams the map. Head in the opposite direction and attack from afar until they dissipate. Near death, he will summon random lightning bolts as well.
  • Fire Gates – Jamanra summons massive gates that shoot out a stream of daggers. You can roll through these but they severely limit the battlefield. He only summons more than one when he’s at about 25% health, so try to quickly finish him.

Jamanra, the Abomination melee strategy

Defeating Jamanra with a melee character isn’t more difficult but requires a bit more patience than a ranged character, as you’ll have less opportunity to attack him in both his phases.

In his first phase, you’ll want to stay as close to him as possible, sticking mostly to his rear as you whack him with your Quarterstaff or Mace, depending on your class. The only time you’ll want to keep your distance is when he summons his sandstorm. When he does so, head on over to Asala and carefully clear the additional enemies without leaving her protection. Don’t try to attack Jamanra from afar here.

It’s better to keep your distance from the roaming electrical pillars if they’re close to Jamanra, waiting for them to disappear. If they’ve wandered to another part of the map, use a skill like Leap Slam to close distance and get some damage in – but be wary of his Justice Explosion as that covers a massive area.

For his second phase, Jamanra is a bit more difficult to handle as there’s so many barriers he puts him to keep you away, from the Electric Pillars to the Fire Gates, as well as both his massive sword attacks. However, getting behind him makes this much easier as both attacks hit in front of him.

Once again, you’re going to have to have patience and wait for Jamanra to expose himself if he’s caught up in a bunch of his AoE attacks. Eventually, he’ll go down.

Jamanra, the Abomination ranged strategy

The ranged strategy can be difficult if only because ranged characters tend to be squishier than their melee counterparts; that said, you have much more opportunity to keep sustained pressure on Jamanra.

In his first phase, try to keep your distance while staying to either his left or right or directly behind him – never standing directly out front due to his Justice Explosion attack. Staying in his general area will ensure you have enough time to dodge behind him.

As for the Lighting Pillars, dodge through them when you can but be very wary when he summons the fast moving alternative, as it’s quite difficult to avoid those. Throw off an AoE attack and focus on avoiding them rather than attacking until they go away.

Luckily, when he does his Sandstorm attack, you can head on over to Asala’s protective shield and fire away at him, dealing with the crawling zombies that assault you when necessary. He should go down quicker to a ranged character than a melee one.

In his next form, keep as far back of him as you feel comfortable doing so as his sword attacks can quickly deplete your health bar if they connect. Otherwise, you have much freer range of movement and can stay out of the way of tornadoes, lightning pillars, fiery daggers, and so forth with a little bit of practice.

With these tips in mind, you shouldn’t have too much trouble taking down Jamanra, the Abomination, and making your way to the final act of the Early Access build. If you need a break after all the trouble Jamanra caused you, consider playing some of the best relaxing games instead. There’s no shame in taking a break. There’ll be way more PoE 2 to get through when the full Path of Exile 2 release date rolls around.
