Netflix’s The Sandman season two has offered up a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at Tom Sturridge, who plays Morpheus, and he’s giving it his all-in-one particular scene, leaving fans even more eager for the show’s return. In the summer of last year, production on The Sandman season two went full guns blazing at the Shepperton Studios in the UK and almost a year later, season two finally wrapped filming this year in August.
The comic book adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel, which has been praised as one of the best comics in recent times, Netflix’s The Sandman tells the story of Morpheus (Dream), one of the seven Endless entities, who was held as a prisoner in a cruel and calculating occult ritual in 1916. After finding his way out of his nightmarish 106 years of imprisonment, he sets off on a mission to restore some kind of order to the realm of Dreaming but, he is faced with dangerous challenges and even more merciless enemies.

The Sandman Season 2 Image Sees A Battle-Ready Morpheus
The latest behind-the-scenes image of The Sandman season two has been revealed by TVLine, which shows off a lonesome shot of the show’s lead, Tom Sturridge, as he jumps into action as the god associated with sleep and dreams, also known as Morpheus, aka Dream. Even though viewers can’t see who the powerful being is up against, it seems as though he has his work cut out for him as he faces one of season two’s sinister forces, which could be Lucifer. The explosive image sees Morpheus in a fighting pose, with one hand behind his back and the other reaching out to cast a magical spell of some kind, in a bid to bring whoever is unlucky enough to challenge him to their knees.
In a previous behind-the-scenes teaser for The Sandman season two, audiences were introduced to a slew of new characters, including three Norse Gods: Odin (Clive Russell), Loki (Freddie Fox), and Thor (Laurence O’Fuarain). Netflix also unveiled that the second season of The Sandman will introduce Game of Thrones‘ Jack Gleeson as Puck, who is “a malevolent hobgoblin who serves as the royal jester to King Auberon of Faerie.” Mason Alexander Park, who plays the anthropomorphic personification of Desire in the fantasy show, recently opened up about their character and how much of an honor it was to star alongside Sturridge.
The Sandman season two doesn’t have a release date just yet, however, filming has been kept on the hot plate since it came out of the SAG-AFTRA strike last year, so the new season should be ready to premiere at some stage next year, but even that currently feels too long for most fans. If the teasers and behind-the-scenes images are anything to go by, season two looks set to rival some of The Sandman‘s season one’s best episodes.
