Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Was Briefly Listed For Free On Humble

Key Takeaways

  • Indiana Jones and The Great Circle was briefly listed as free on Humble on Monday night.
  • When trying to fix the problem, the premium edition’s price was accidentally dropped to zero.
  • The standard edition of the game has since been removed entirely from Humble’s storefront.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle launched on Xbox and PC this week after receiving rave reviews ahead of release. Many of you likely plan on playing the new Indy game on Game Pass, but there was briefly another way to play the $70 game for no additional cost thanks to an erroneous Humble listing.

As spotted and quickly shared by Wario64, there was a point on Monday night/the early hours of Tuesday morning when The Great Circle was listed for free on Humble. Clearly an error not only because it’s a brand new game being given away for free, but also because, as you can see in the screenshot, the original price with a line through it was $0.00 instead of $69.99.

No, you can’t hurt dogs in The Great Circle, nor should you want to, you monsters.

Since Humble sells Steam keys for games rather than physical copies, as soon as you buy a game, you can redeem your code, start downloading, and then start playing. There’s a chance that means those lucky enough to spot Indiana Jones on Humble when it was accidentally listed for free might now own a free copy of the game. However, Wario64’s follow-ups on the situation make that seem unlikely.

That’s Quite The Deal For A Game That Launched Yesterday

Shortly after the free listing started to get attention, it became evident that someone at Humble was trying to do something about it, but briefly made things worse before fixing the error. After the standard edition of The Great Circle returned to its intended price, the more expensive premium edition then had its price accidentally reduced to zero.

If you’re waking up on Tuesday morning to this news hoping you might pick up a free copy of Bethesda‘s new Indy game, you’ve already missed out. Not only is The Great Circle no longer free on Humble, but the standard edition isn’t listed at all. The premium edition is still live for its full price, but there’s a note at the top of the page explaining it’s out of stock and more keys are on the way.

Mistakes like these happen more often than you might think. In 2023, shortly after its release, Amazon accidentally listed Nintendo’s Mario red OLED Switch for just a penny. Microsoft made a similar mistake when it listed the entire $250 collection of James Bond movies for $4.99. As was the case in both those examples, it’s almost a certainty that anyone who bagged a free copy of The Great Circle will have their sale reversed.
