How do you trade in Path of Exile 2? Trading is essential in any action RPG community, whether you’re hunting for a specific weapon or want to convert junk items into useful currency like exalted orbs. Getting started with trading in Path of Exile 2 can be confusing, especially if you’re new to auction houses and similar online trading systems. We’re here to help.
PoE 2 trading is one of the best ways to skip the grind and polish off the best PoE builds without depending on loot tables and random chance. Our dedicated guide will ensure you become a trade master in the multiplayer game, and includes how to make a successful trade, what’s ineligible for exchange, and directions to Path of Exile 2’s dedicated trading site.
How does Path of Exile 2 trading work?
You can trade in Path of Exile 2 by right-clicking on another player’s character and selecting ‘Trade’ from the drop-down menu to send a trade request.
Trades can only be made in safe zones like towns and encampments, so don’t forget to exchange items with your PoE 2 co-op partner before you venture out on another quest. You can also teleport directly to their location by clicking on the blue circle next to their character portrait, which is helpful when only one of you is in a safe spot.
While you can trade with anyone regardless of whether you’re grouped up, you can only begin trading once the other player has accepted. Trade requests are a common form of griefing in online RPG games, so we recommend sending a direct whisper to reassure anonymous players that it’s a genuine request.
Once your trade request is accepted, you can drop any items from your inventory into the offer box. Remember that you cannot trade gold. Once both trading partners have hovered over the items they’re due to receive and verified their attributes, you can hit ‘accept’ and complete the trade.
Is there a Path of Exile 2 trade site?
While in-game trades are the fastest way to exchange items with friends, you can also trade in PoE via your web browser. Simply log into the official trade site with your account credentials. This functions much like auction house systems in MMORPGs, letting you list items you’re willing to trade.
You can also check for any listed items for your character, including weapons, armor, and more. Don’t forget to use the search filters to narrow the trade site’s selection to your class and level, or search for a specific item you need. Once you’ve found a listed item that takes your fancy, you can whisper the owner to begin trading negotiations.
How to list items for trading
Premium stash tabs are required to list items on the trade site, which you can acquire in the shop or by purchasing an early access supporter pack. Right-click on the stash tab’s name to set it to public, then fill it with the items you’re willing to trade.
We recommend looking up any items on the trade site first, to check their current value in PoE 2’s economy and price them accordingly. We expect the value to change dramatically across the seasons, so don’t assume that an item you sold previously is of the same value.
Now that you’re a wizard at Path of Exile 2 trading, it’s time to put your new equipment to the test by running the gauntlet of Path of Exile 2 bosses. We’ve also got a Path of Exile 2 quest list if you’d prefer to focus on the main story, and our extensive Path of Exile 2 early access review can walk seasoned fans through what’s changed in the sequel.
