How to Get Every Glyph in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered lets fans revisit both of these classic games, but both have elements that make them unique from one another. Glyphs are one such mechanic. Glyphs are a feature in the original Soul Reaver that lets players tap into immense power, and then unleash it.

A whole new set of Glyphs were planned to appear in Soul Reaver 2, but the decision to include them was ultimately scrapped. While they are fun to use, only one of them is required to complete the game — the Spirit Glyph.

How to Get Every Glyph in Soul Reaver

When players start off the game, they will have just one Glyph available. This Glyph will allow them to shift between the Spectral Realm and the Material Plane. Shifting to the Spectral Realm can be done at any time, but shifting the Material Plane is another story. Before players can shift to the Material Plane, they will need to find specially marked spots on the map while in the Spectral Realm and be at full health.

Glyph Power

How to Obtain

Spirit Glyph

Shifts Raziel between the Spectral Realm and the Material Plane.

Available at the beginning of the game.

Force Glyph

Pushes away all enemies with its effect. Great for when the player feels overwhelmed.

After you have slain Melchiah, backtrack to the first room with water. Hop down to shift into the Spectral Realm. Pass through the gate using your new power and follow the path upward to find a giant face in the wall, along with 3 obelisks. Push all three obelisks over to trigger a cutscene that reveals the Force Glyph.

Stone Glyph

Stuns all enemies within its effective range.

Return to Melchiah’s domain using the gate to fast-travel. Upon leaving through the gate door, you can leap into the water to shift back to the Spectral Realm. Head forward down the path, and you will see a ledge that you will need to high jump to. After this ledge will be a spot you can use to return to the Material Plane. Shift here, and then climb up the wall using your gift from defeating Zephon. Follow this path, slaying Melchiah’s kin and solving the block puzzle at the end to find the Glyph Statue to receive the Stone Glyph.

Sound Glyph

This Glyph will both injure and stun all of your enemies within its effective range.

This Glyph can be obtained after you are able to fire projectiles. From the entrance of the Silenced Cathedral, turn right and follow the path to find a pair of large wooden doors. Make your way through these doors and up to the room with the large pipes that twist after you shift. This will be the room before the puzzle with all the wall paintings. Jump down and follow the pathway until you see a large white pane of glass. Destroy it with a projectile and then climb up the wall to the newly made opening. Head to the far side of the next room and climb the wall to find the Sound Glyph symbol. Complete a series of shifting and jumping until you come to another white glass window you can break. Past this window there will be a large bell you can ring, but you will need its hammer. The hammer can be found opposite the wall you climbed up to reach the Sound Glyph. Now that you know where the bell is, you can throw the hammer to get it into the room and then pick it up to ring the bell. This will reveal the Sound Glyph.

Fire Glyph

With the power of the Fire Glyph, Raziel can instantly incinerate vampires and humans alike.

After the player has defeated Rahab, they will gain the ability to swim in water. Players will need to backtrack to the room they broke the stained-glass window of in order to get outside. Players will then swim down and use their projectiles to smash the submerged stained glass window. This will lead them to a room filled with vampiric egg sacks. Players will find a beam of sunlight coming from one of the archways. Go through it, and keep going up until you arrive in a large room. Head straight while moving up and through the archway straight ahead. However, players would benefit from getting the Fire Reaver in this area first. You will arrive in a room that you can surface from, but do not surface. Instead, turn right and head through the other submerged archway. Follow this path, and you will find a pillar with a Glyph symbol on it. Surface into this room, and you will see a wooden door on one side and an open archway for another. Both of these have a series of enemies and cranks. Defeat the enemies and turn all of the cranks to gain access to the room with the Fire Glyph Statue.

Sunlight Glyph

This is the most powerful Glyph in Raziel’s arsenal. Able to incinerate every lesser vamperic foe in the game while being harmless to humans.

Head back to the Silenced Cathedral yet again, but this time do not go inside. Instead, look to the right of the entrance to see a gate submerged under water. Swim along this path to discover some underground caverns with lighthouses. Activating all the mechanisms will turn on the lighthouses. Enemies like to hide around corners, so stay vigilant. Follow the light to the glass triangle to find a door below it. You will find a wall with a triangle on it that the light hits before moving away. Shift to the Spectral Realm the moment the light touches it to reveal the Sunlight Glyph.

Water Glyph

This Glyph works similarly to that of the Fire Glyph, except its effects do not effect humans or the kin of Rahab.

Head back to the Lake of the Dead while making your way to defeat Dumah. You will need to use a high jump while submerged in water to reach the ledge to get to him. However, there is a path to the left that will take you to the Human Citadel. There are several humans here that you should not kill. If you do, they will become hostile towards you. There are various blocks you will need to shift around to raise the water high enough to reach the final Glyph Statue.
