As you explore Gizeh, you’ll encounter Professor Omar, who believes that something new has been found in an older tomb, and doesn’t want it to fall into the wrong hands.

Whose spirit is haunting this ancient tomb in Gizah?
The Secret of the Queen Mother Fieldwork mission is on the shorter side, but it can be extremely dangerous if you aren’t careful, given how many enemies there are between you and your prize. Stay sharp as you infiltrate the dig site.
How To Start The Secret Of The Queen Mother Fieldwork
To start this quest, you’ll need to speak with Omar in his tent near the Tomb of Khentkawes. This dig site is along the southern edge of the map, west of Nawal’s encampment.
Omar can be found on the northeastern side of the site. Look for his black car outside the tent.
Speaking with Omar will trigger a cutscene, beginning the quest and allowing you to track the tomb on your map.
How To Get Into The Dig Site
The easiest way to get into the dig site is to zipline along the rope immediately outside of Omar’s tent. Push the guard over the edge to silence him, then use the rope; it will take you straight to the center of the site, near the elevator that you need to enter the tomb.
Turn around when you land; you’ll see the elevator at the center of the site. . There will be at least two guards watching it, including an officer with an alarm whistle. Wait for the helmeted soldier to stand by the elevator shaft, then sneak up on him and push him down; you don’t want him bringing his machine to bear.
Quickly knock out the officer before he can blow his whistle, then throw him down the elevator shaft as well to cover your tracks. If you have time, there’s a wrench on the crate to the right that can help you take him down quickly. Read the note next to the wrench, then climb down the wooden scaffolding to the next level, where the generators that power the elevator need to be turned on.

One of the chest mysteries in Indiana Jones And The Great Circle is called Cloud Atlas and it involves weather reports.
How To Turn The Generators On
There’s a single guard near the elevator shaft; it can be tough to sneak up on him since you’re climbing down from above, but one good punch or whack with a wrench should be enough to put his lights out. The control panel for the elevator has a note taped to it; read it, then enter the excavation tunnels in any order. You need to turn on both the red and blue generators inside to get the elevator running.
The excavation tunnels each have one generator; the blue cables and the red cables. If you get lost, you can follow the wires either to the generator or back to the entrance.
Blue Generator
There are two doors to the blue generator area, left of the elevator, but they both go to the same place. Go inside and head to the right. There are two pieces of bread on the table that you can use to bulk up your health, then climb the stairs.
Move quietly into the next room; you’ll see a generator directly across from you. Turning it on will electrify the flooded chamber, eliminating the entire group of guards inside at once.
Obviously, you should stay out of the water yourself while electricity is coursing through it. Safety first!
Enter the large chamber to your left, taking the Medicine Bottle on the crate as you pass. There’s a single guard inside; take him out, then use the whip to swing on the rafters to the far side. Follow the blue cable by crawling through the tunnel to the next room.
The final chamber has a chest with an Adventure Book and 50 Reichsmarks in the near right corner; collect them, then sneak or fight your way across. There are plenty of two-handed weapons like sledgehammers and pickaxes lying around, so put them to good use.
The generator is located on top of the wooden scaffold on the right side of the room. It’s activated by a switch next to it, not the machine itself.
When the generator is turned on, two more soldiers will enter via the exit door. Getting past them without being seen is tricky, so you might be better off just rushing them with a weapon. If you can use the whip to disarm the helmeted soldier, then collect his gun, you can use it to dispatch them both in short order.
The soldiers opened the gate in the entrance hall that was closed before, so you can walk straight back out to the elevator from here.
Red Generator
The red generator is in the tunnel behind the elevator and to the right. The tunnel goes straight on until it reaches a drop into the main excavation area; unless you want to take the wrench near the entrance to use as a weapon, you can proceed straight through.
This is one large room, filled with several guards. The best approach is to eliminate them with stealth takedowns one by one if possible; you don’t want the entire squad ganging up on you. They are:
- Waiting by the crates ahead of the main entrance.
- Patrolling the upper walkway (armed with a rifle).
- Seated against the rear left wall.
Once you make it across the room – quietly or otherwise – enter the door on the right and climb the stairs. There’s another guard at the top who you can push over the ledge if you can get behind him. The door at the top of the stairs leads to the second level of the main area that you were just in.
If you haven’t already done so, go back down and get the rifleman’s gun.
The generator is around the corner on the second level, guarded by a heavy. While you certainly can fistfight him, it’s much easier to just use the rifle to shoot him two or three times. Note that if there are any remaining guards, though, they’ll definitely hear the gunfire and come running.
Once the heavy is dealt with, turn on the generator and take a picture of the mural once the lights are on. Take the fruit on the table to the left of the mural, and break open the lockbox for an extra 100 Reichsmarks, then leave the tomb the way you came in.
How To Find The Stele In The Tomb
Once both generators are activated, return to the elevator and press the button on the panel to call it up. When it arrives, use the bottom button to descend into the Tomb of Khentkawes.
Inside, collect the money and the note on the left-hand table, then start placing the Stone Glyphs in the sockets on the mural.
Mural Puzzle Solution
Glyph |
Location |
Socket |
---|---|---|
Bird |
On the ground next to the mural. |
Top (sky) |
Snake |
On the table to the left. |
Middle (land) |
Fish |
On the ground across from the table. |
Bottom (sea) |
The animals depicted on each glyph go in their proper habitats; the bird in the highest spot, the fish under the sea, and the snake on the land in between.
Once all three glyphs are in place, a light will shine on a cracked stone block across from the mural. Take one of the sledgehammers lying around the tomb (there’s one by the table) and smash the block to reveal the secret chamber where the Light Stele is hidden.
When you take the Stele, two guards will enter the tomb. Either take them out, or sneak quietly from the secret chamber and get back to the elevator to escape. Return with the Stele to Omar to complete the quest.
