Traps can be incredibly helpful in Sea of Thieves. Here’s a rundown on how players can get and use them.

How to Start Legend of the Veil Voyage in Sea of Thieves

Legend of the Veil is an Athena’s Fortune voyage available only to the Pirate Legends in the Sea of Thieves. Once you’ve reached the title of the Pirate Legend, head to the Quest Table and select the Legend of the Veil Voyage in the Athena’s Fortune tab. This voyage is relatively long, so you should put aside enough time and gather enough supplies before venturing off.

Vote for the voyage, and the Pirate Lord will appear on the deck to tell the story about the Veil, giving you a quest book just like in Tall Tales. Inspect the book to learn the first location you must sail to.

How to Complete First Two Chapters of Legend of the Veil Voyage in Sea of Thieves

The first two chapters in the Legend of the Veil are random. There are five total quest types, and while the islands and locations can differ from voyage to voyage, the general way of completing them is the same.

At the end of each chapter, you’ll get a Veil Stone that you must take back to your ship and insert into the Veil that’s attached next to the wheel, similar to the Shroudbreaker in The Shores of Gold Tall Tale. After completing the chapter, check your book for new pages and clues.

Lying Map

The map quests first lead you to Sudds, who holds notes you need to find the Veil Stone. The lying map shows an island with multiple symbols, which you can find on the island in the form of stone drawings. One of these symbols is wrong.

You must check every symbol, and if the drawing on the island doesn’t match the symbol shown on the map, use the shovel to dig up an Ancient Chest and claim a Veil Stone.

Black arrows above the symbols on the map indicate that the symbols are in caves or underground.

Zoomed-In Map

The second type of map that Sudds can give you is the zoomed-in map. It’s similar to the traditional X marks the spot map, but it only shows a certain part of the island you have to go to.

Look at the world map and try to find the area of the island shown on the map. For a Pirate Legend, this should be a piece of cake. Head to the island and dig where the X marks the spot to claim the Veil Stone.

Pictorial Map

The last type of map that Sudds can give you is a pictorial map. This one shows a few areas of the island where the Veil Stone is hidden. It’s significantly more challenging than the zoomed-in map, as you may not remember the scenery of the island.

Most of the time, the map shows a larger island, like The Sunken Cove. In this case, look at the nearest ones and see if the environment may match the images in the Quest Book. Sail to the island, find the spot marked by the ancient symbol in the book, and dig up an Ancient Chest to get a Veil Stone.

The target island should be in the same region as where you started the voyage (The Wilds, The Shores of Plenty, The Ancient Isles, and The Devil’s Roar).

Haunted Island

The haunted island quest leads to Belle. Head to the place mentioned in the book and find her. You’ll know you’re on the right island when the sky turns dark and green. Talk to Belle to get the Enchanted Lantern and use it to light the brazier on the stone statue next to her.

After lighting up the first statue, follow the green pulses and beacons in the sky to find the rest of the statues. The beacons only appear for a brief time after lighting a brazier. Light up all the statues and then proceed to the final location where a group of Ancients is performing a ritual. Light up the brazier, and fight off the phantoms, including the Soulflame Captain boss. After that’s done, talk to the Ancient Priest to finish the chapter and claim the Veil Stone.

Shipwreck Graveyard

The last quest type you can get for the first two chapters of the voyage is the shipwreck graveyard. Sail to the location in the Quest Book and look for the flock of seagulls in the sky. Dive under the water and look for a key on board one of the ships. (The key may be in boxes, cupboards, wardrobes, or any other interactable object.)

Take the key to the ship’s captain’s cabin (the ship you need is in the name of the key) and open it. In one of the chests, the Veil Stone will be yours to claim.

You may find log books in the shipwrecks that tell you where the key and the Veil Stone are.

How to Complete the Final Chapter of Legend of the Veil Voyage in Sea of Thieves

sea-of-thieves-ghost-fort

The final chapter of the Legend of the Veil voyage in Sea of Thieves is always the same and tasks you with destroying a fort. Follow the new pages in the book to the fort’s location or simply sail towards a giant green tornado in the sky.

A storm, multiple ghost ships, and three emplacements that look like small forts surround the tornado. Destroy the emplacements by firing at their weak points highlighted by the green light. Each emplacement takes around four cannonballs to destroy.

Destroying all three emplacements dispels the tornado and reveals the fort itself. The fort has around six weak points, which include towers, walls, and central buildings. You must destroy all of them to force the storm and ghost ships to retreat.

If you’re running low on supplies, emplacements and ghost ships drop supply crates with wood and cannonballs, so make sure to pick them up.

With the fort destroyed, you can board it to claim the treasure (including the Chest of Legends) and the final Veil Stone. Insert the Veil Stone into the Veil to summon the Pirate Lord and finish the voyage.
