Raziel will face off against many of his former brethren throughout Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, with the last of his brothers being Dumah. Dumah has become vastly stronger since casting Raziel into the Lake of the Dead — with Dumah going as far as to claim his power now rivals that of even his creator, Kain.
Just like most of the boss fights in the game, it is not about fighting an opponent, but rather gaining information about the fight to discover what will finish them off. Out of all the bosses in the game, the only one that feels like an actual boss fight is Zephon.

How to Beat Dumah in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
When the player finds Dumah, he will be sitting on a large throne with various wooden stakes piercing into his body. Players can awaken Dumah by approaching him and pulling all three of these stakes from his body. However, they should hold off on doing so before knowing how to fight him. Unlike past boss fights, players will not stay in a single boss arena to face their foe. Some players might think the key to defeating Dumah is using the stakes again, but these will have no effect, and the actual course of action is to run out of the room where they find Dumah.
As players make their way through Dumah’s stronghold, they will be opening up pathways that were previously not in place. One of which will be a giant furnace room. Players will need to charge a route from this furnace room to Dumah’s lair so that they can lure him there. Should they need them, players will find various images above of every corner they will need to take to navigate from Dumah’s lair to this room — as well as a point-by-point list below:
- Head east along the red carpet and out of Dumah’s room.
- Go around the fallen obelisk to the hallway on the east side.
- At the beam of sunlight, turn and head south.
- Head up the ramp and turn to face west.
- You will go over a bridge while heading west.
- Head to the far west side of the next room and through the doorway.
- Follow this winding corridor to the furnace room, making sure Dumah is following you.
Should players get too far ahead of Dumah, he will turn around and go back to his lair. Players will then have to start this whole process over. Players should never jump, and instead just keep running to the room. This gives Dumah time to catch up once players are stunned by his stomp attack. Players can stop to look back to ensure Dumah has not fallen too far behind.
Once they arrive in the furnace room, they will find a wheel on the west side of the room and a lever on the east side. Players will need to head west once they enter the room and turn a wheel to open various gas valves. Players will then need to lure Dumah into the middle of the room before pulling the lever on the east side. This will ignite the gas and defeat Dumah. This will give players the ability to create a trail of spectral energy that can be used to bind enemies — or allow them to interact with certain objects.
Dumah may get stuck on the west platform. Should this happen, players will need to stand with an open path between the two so he can run up to Raziel and then be lured back down the walkway.
