- It’s unclear when the console will be officially revealed.
Thanks to a recent image leak, some gamers believe they have gotten their first look at the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Earlier this year, Nintendo finally confirmed that it has a new gaming system in the works after years of rumor and speculation and that it will be fully revealed sometime before the end of the current fiscal year in March 2025. Since then, the internet has been wondering when exactly the tentatively named Nintendo Switch 2 will be unveiled, and, more importantly, what it will look like.
According to many of the rumors that have sprung up since the official confirmation of the Nintendo Switch 2, the company is looking to retain the console/handheld hybrid format that helped make the original Switch one of the highest-selling systems of all time, albeit with much beefier hardware and magnetic Joy-Con controllers that would hopefully prevent some of the technical issues that plagued its predecessor. Back in September, supposed images of the Nintendo Switch 2’s prototypes leaked online, seemingly supporting the claims of the new system being similar to the first Switch.

Another possible look at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 may have just leaked, as reported by GamesRadar. A peripheral company named Satisfye seemingly posted, and then deleted, a trailer for the new ZenGrip 2, and many think it includes a glimpse of the Nintendo Switch 2 with the peripheral attached. Not much can be seen from the remaining screenshots shared by Twitter users like DP19, and sure enough it seemingly resembles the original Switch in its portable handheld mode. It can be hard to make out any further details, but some users have noticed an extra button on its Joy-Cons.
A Nintendo Switch 2 Glimpse May Have Just Leaked
The Nintendo Switch 2’s design is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to rumors, as there is also plenty of speculation about when the system will launch and how much it will cost. As some fans hold onto hope that the Switch 2 will hit stores as early as March or April 2025, some sources are now saying that the system will instead launch in June. Additionally, rumors claim that the Switch 2 could cost in the ballpark of $399 to $449, a departure from Nintendo’s traditional ethos of selling consoles at a lower cost than its competitors.
All of this is still up in the air, and there’s a chance that the console shown in Satisfye’s trailer is just the original Nintendo Switch. Gamers probably won’t know for sure until Nintendo officially unveils its new system, and there is a slim chance that this reveal could come as soon as The Game Awards 2024 on December 12.
