The Secretlab Magnus packs everything most people will want into a gaming desk, and it has the same high-quality construction as its Titan Evo gaming chairs. While its frame and top are heavy, our reviewer was surprised at how easy the desk was to assemble. They also praised its remarkably smooth motorized legs, which can support an impressive 120kg weight (enough for several monitors, a high-end gaming PC, and peripherals).

The Secretlab Magnus Pro is as smart as it is strong,  with a built-in cable management system that saves you from the eyesore of cable spaghetti and gives your setup a clean look. Many accessories can further enhance the desk’s capabilities the desk, but they are fairly pricey and aren’t a necessary purchase by any means.

The main drawback to the Magnus Pro is the price. We’ve added it to the top spot because it is the best gaming desk that money can buy, but if your budget doesn’t stretch, there are better value alternatives below.

For a while, we had the Flexispot E7 as one of our favorite standing desks for gaming. Unsurprisingly, the newer E8 model delivers the same excellent value standing desk that proves premium options don’t need to break the bank.

With smooth motorized movements, a huge horizontal and height range, and great build quality, the Flexispot E8 is a great solution for those looking to play games or work from home – in fact, it does both well. The high loading weight means you’ll be able to store your PC safely on the desk too.

Sitting or standing in front of the Herman Miller Motia Gaming Desk provides a luxurious experience that few, if any, competitors can come close to. It both looks and feels the part of a premium worktop, with ergonomic expertise to boot, with 48cm of adjustable height. It even comes with a built-in collision sensor for extra piece of mind.

While its 12-year warranty should also ease any anxieties of spending $1,345, you are certainly paying a premium here for the Herman Miller branding. The Motia does, unfortunately, also have a few minor weaknesses, namely its limited monitor arm support and noticeable wobble when it’s set to its maximum height of 117cm.

Eureka Ergonomic Gaming Desk

  • Sturdy design
Reasons to avoid
  • Uses cheaper materials
  • Not enormous

Are you looking for a cheap desk for your gaming PC with one large monitor or two smaller ones? If so, this is going to be your best option. Visually it’s not the most stunning, and it’s only made of engineered wood, but honestly, it does a fine job and there’s not a lot that we can say against it.

In fact, we’re quite impressed by how sturdy this desk is. Considering its relatively simple construction, it can actually hold a fairly decent amount of weight. There are even little hooks on either end that you can  Of course, you don’t want to overfill it anyway, since it’s quite small, but it’s good to know that it can hold quite a lot.

Best standing desk for storage space

Corsair Platform:6 specifications:
Type Adjustable standing desk
Dimensions (H x L x W) 72 – 30 inches
Height range 74 – 122cm (29 – 49-inch)
Max. supported weight 150kg (330lbs)
Material Painted steel legs and frame
Reasons to buy
  • Handy cubby with lots of space
  • Large, spacious desktop
  • Quiet, smooth motor operated adjustment
Reasons to avoid
  • It’s expensive
  • The edges are sharp
  • Easy to smudge surface

A lot of standing desks are great for your back, but not so great for storage space. They’re designed to give you an elevating surface, and while they do that very well, they tend to lack the convenience of drawers that traditional desks usually have. Not so with the Corsair Platform:6 which has a really handy cubby for that very purpose.

On top of that, it’s a nice big desktop that you can fit lots of stuff on. The surface material is the kind that shows dirt and smudges quite easily, which is kind of annoying, but then again, a strict cleaning regimen should do a good job of keeping this issue at bay. The edges are a bit too sharp as well, but most of the time that’s not going to be a bother, so we feel a bit nitpicky bringing it up.

It’s an expensive standing desk, which we know will put some people off, but ultimately we think it’s a fantastic choice. It’s a well-made piece of hardware with loads of great cable management solutions and easy adjustments that let you get it just how you want it.

Flexispot E2

Best budget gaming standing desk

Flexispot E2 specifications:
Type Height adjustable
Dimensions (H x L x W) 710-1,210 x 1,500 x 750mm
Height range 500mm
Max. supported weight 187lb (85kg)
Material Chipboard / bamboo / wood
Reasons to buy
  • 50cm of adjustable height
  • Several worktop materials, sizes, and prices available
  • Frame can be ordered by itself
Reasons to avoid
  • Meager cable management option
  • Customization can quickly inflate the price
  • Three-year warranty

As the popularity of standing desks grow, the cost of entry level models similarly fall, and our favorite of the bunch is the Flexispot E2. Rather than opt for a one-size-fits-all approach, Flexispot instead offers a variety of worktop materials with the E2, as well as selling the frame by itself, all in the service of letting you build the ideal desk for your budget.

Naturally, as a cheaper option, niceties such as cable management are something of an afterthought. You’ll want to watch the price of the Flexispot E2 as well, as you customize it, as while it may start at $310, it can cost much more. You’re also only covered with a three-year warranty, compared to the longer periods offered by more expensive options.

Type Height adjustable

  • Removes the need for a PC case
Reasons to avoid
  • Costs just shy of $1,600 / £1,600

  • Requires internal and external upkeep

Given its small form factor, at 100cm wide, the Lian Li DK-04F should easily fit into most spaces you’d want to put a gaming desk in. Better still, it’s both stealthy and small, giving you the option to house your gaming desk beneath its glass worktop.

To be clear, awesome as this feature is, building a PC in a unique form factor naturally comes with its own challenges, supported component heights aside. Thankfully, the difficulty of constructing the desk itself isn’t something you’ll need to consider, as Lian Li are kind enough to ship the DK-04F pre-assembled.

How to choose the best gaming desks

We’ve been testing and using the best gaming desks for years, and have put together this list based on decades of experience. Products come and go, but the fundamentals of what you want from a gaming desk remain the same.

First, measure your space and decide how much room you have available to accommodate the desk, and how many monitors or peripherals you want to keep on top of it. You should also ensure you can comfortably fit a gaming chair behind it.

As well as physical dimensions, consider how much physical weight you want the desk to carry. If you mainly use a gaming laptop and a small monitor, your weight requirements will be much lower than housing a gaming PC and the best 4K monitor. Generally speaking, the greater the load capacity, the more expensive the desk.

Design is more subjective, so we can’t make recommendations there. But you can find gaming desks in several finishes and colors, from dark black with RGB accents to subtle, wood worktops. The construction of the tabletop is an important consideration. If you plan to use monitor or microphone clamps, you’ll want wood or metal – clamps and glass desks don’t mix.

It’s a good idea to set a budget, but paying more will get you more sophisticated cable management solutions such as nets, trays for power strips, or grommets, which all help keep your whole setup tidy.

What are the benefits of a gaming desk?

If you’ve already got an office desk, you might be wondering whether you need one of the best gaming desks instead. The answer isn’t always obvious.

If you’re currently gaming on your dining table or sofa, investing in a dedicated gaming desk will be worth having so that you can create an ergonomic setup with all your gaming hardware.

However, if you have a good office desk already, don’t want to spend a lot more money, or it isn’t yours to replace, you might just be able to pimp it up with a decent mouse pad or some RGB strip lights.

Do I need a height-adjustable gaming desk?

If you spend extended hours at your PC, it’s worth stretching your budget for a height-adjustable gaming desk. A standing desk can help you avoid developing a bad posture, allowing you to alternate between standing and sitting throughout the day. We know that being sedentary for too long can harm health, so being able to move around and continue gaming can only be a good thing.

How much weight can a gaming desk hold?

Gaming setups can be heavy and elaborate, especially if you’re going for a triple monitor configuration. So, before investing in a new surface, it’s important to calculate exactly how much weight you need your desk to bear. Specialist gaming desks are usually designed to hold their ground with heavy equipment, with options like the Secretlab Magnus handling around 100kg.
