How to Catch Bugs in Infinity Nikki
There are several abilities you can obtain in Infinity Nikki and one of them turns you into a certified bug catcher extraordinaire, adorable outfit included. There is no need to worry about missing it because you will unlock this outfit during Chapter One of the main story. Specifically, it’s an objective during the ‘Accident at the Clothing Shop’ quest that introduces you to Nonoy and requires you to obtain a Foodie Bee for shop repairs.
Once you’ve accepted the aforementioned quest, you’ll then need to unlock it on your Heart of Infinity grid with at least 2 Whimstars and 1,000 Bling in your inventory. This will give you the sketch for the outfit, which you can then view in your Sketches menu. For the Afternoon Shine outfit you’ll need the following items to craft it:
- Starlit Plum (gathered in the grasslands around Florawish)
- Floof Yarn (gathered from Floof animals using the Animal Grooming ability)
- Daisy (gathered in the grasslands around Florawish)
- Thread of Purity (obtained by completing quests, completing daily wishes, realm challenges, etc)
Once you have all of these items, choose ‘Select All’ on the Afternoon Shine outfit in your Sketches menu and then hit ‘Craft’ to make the outfit and unlock the bug-catching ability. This will be added to your Ability Wheel, which you can toggle at any time. Alongside it, you’ll find your other starter abilities such as Animal Grooming, Electrician, and Fishing which you obtain soon after.
To catch a bug in Infinity Nikki, first make sure you have the ability selected on your Ability Wheel, then press and hold the appropriate ‘Ability’ button. This will instantly change Nikki into her bug-catching outfit and give her a butterfly-shaped net to catch critters with. Approach the bug you want to catch and once the gold net icon appears over it, let go of the ability button and Nikki will swing her net pole and catch the bug, sending it to your inventory.
It will also increase your ‘Bug-Catching Insight’ meter, which you need to unlock additional accessory sketches and ability enhancements for Afternoon Shine on your Heart of Infinity grid. Additionally, some Whimstars in the open world take the form of a Whimflutter, or a butterfly-shaped Whimstar that you need your bug-catching ability for.
All Bug Locations in Infinity Nikki
There are a total of 17 bugs that you can find and gather in Infinity Nikki, and they’re scattered in various locations across Miraland.
