What is the Path of Exile 2 Trade Site (and How to Use it)

Trade is the thing that, like the first PoE, makes Path of Exile 2 not just a single-player game but a living, breathing ARPG with a player-driven economy and all the benefits that come with it. While plenty of loot can be found in PoE 2, the loot tables are not restricted to the class of the character who obtains the item. Mercenaries obtain items meant for Rangers; Monks pick up Staves suitable for Sorceresses, and so on.

The only way to reliably obtain the perfect armor set and weapons for your class is to use the open trade market and get them. Relying on the loot RNG to bless you with a powerful item and then have that item be suitable not only for your class but your build as well is a pipe dream and an agonizing way to play. Luckily, trading weapons, gear, and valuable items in PoE 2 is very straightforward. Here’s how.

How to Trade Items With Players in PoE 2

invite to trade someone in the same instance in path of exile 2

There are two possible ways to trade with someone in Path of Exile 2:

  1. To initiate a trade with someone whose character is in the same instance as you, right-click on their avatar and select ‘Trade’ as shown in the screenshot above. This only works if both characters are in the same town and instance at the same time. In this case, you do not need to be in the same party for the trade request to go through.
  2. To initiate a trade with someone through direct messages, like through Whispers or Global Chat, right-click their name in the chat and select ‘Invite To Party.’ Once they accept, teleport to their location by clicking on the blue swirl/circle on their avatar. Once you’re both in the same instance, right-click their name again and select ‘Trade’. Wait for them to accept to continue the process.

The ‘Accept’ button during trade only becomes clickable after players hover over the item being put up by the other party. This is a measure put in place to ensure that neither party is duped or cheated during the transaction.

Path of Exile 2 Trade Site (and How it Works)

Like PoE 1, Path of Exile 2 has a dedicated trading website meant to facilitate and make trading items between users easy and intuitive. The trading platform is hosted on the official website. The address is Path of Exile 2 Trading Site (Official).

Players can use the website to buy weapons and gear from other players or sell their items.

How to Buy Items From PoE 2 Trade Site

  1. Use the filters to find the item you’re looking to buy.
  2. Click on Copy Whisper and an auto-generated message including the seller’s @handle will be copied to clipboard.
  3. Paste the message into the in-game chat, and a whisper will be sent to the seller.
  4. Right-click the seller’s name and click ‘Invite to Party.’
  5. Once you’re in the party, right-click their avatar and select ‘Visit Hideout’ or teleport to their location by clicking the circle inside their party portrait.
  6. Send a trade invite.
  7. Deposit the agreed-upon price in your section, and hover over the items the seller puts in their section to confirm their authenticity.
  8. Click ‘Accept’ and the trade will be complete.

How to Sell Items on PoE 2 Trade Site

premium stash tab for selling items in path of exile 2

All you need to sell items through the official Path of Exile 2 trading site is to buy a Premium Stash from the Microtransaction shop and place the item you want to sell inside. Choose a name and color for this tab, and check ‘Public’.

All items placed inside this tab will automatically show up on the PoE 2 trading site as being on sale. You can select the price for items individually or in bulk. Now, potential buyers will send you a whisper in-game.

Players cannot publicly list items for sale, even with a Premium Stash Tab, until they have a level 25 character on their account. This does not prevent a player who does not qualify to put up items for sale from buying items from a seller.
