Key Takeaways
- CD Projekt Red planned for Geralt to visit Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City in The Witcher 3.

- The modding project may unveil more hidden aspects connecting Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher.
The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 shared a handful of Easter eggs. There was a well-hidden Smuggler’s Cache, an even more well-hidden magazine featuring Ciri, and references to Geralt’s horse, Roach, Nilfgaard, and The Wolf School. These, however, all take place in Cyberpunk 2077, given that the game was released five years after The Witcher 3.

We won’t be waiting too long between reveal and release for The Witcher 4.
Interestingly, though, a new discovery made by the What Lies Unseen modding project has revealed that CD Projekt Red may have planned to take Geralt to Night City in a quest that still exists in The Witcher 3.
Geralt Could Have Visited Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City
As part of The Witcher 3’s Through Time And Space Quest, Geralt and Avallac’h jump from portal to portal to visit a variety of dimensions. The pair visit the Ddiddiwedht Desert, the Poisonous World, the Ice Plains, and Tir Na Lia in one of the game’s most unique side quests. It could have been so much different, though.
As uncovered by the What Lies Unseen datamine and spotted by PC Gamer, it seems like CD Projekt Red had initially planned to have Geralt visit a version of the then-unrevealed Night City from Cyberpunk 2077.
A cut conversation between the two characters shows them discussing a “Technologically advanced, but broken” location, which would have been Cyberpunk’s Night City.
The full conversation can be seen below:
- Geralt: “What… What is this place? Is this the afterlife?”
- Avallac’h: “No. Just another of the realities the Spiral leads through… Technologically advanced, but broken. Dying.”
- Geralt: “Disgusting. This stench, noise… How can you live here?!”
- Avallac’h: “You should know better. This world is inhabited by humans, not elves.”
In a breakdown video from xLetails, it’s also reported that Geralt was set to give the drug addict some coin as part of the quest. This addict would then be seen later in Cyberpunk 2077 prospering as a result of The Witcher character’s generosity.
It’s an interesting find and one of many that are likely to be revealed as the modding project starts to bear more fruit.
Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person action role-playing game based on the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG. You must choose your path through life in the lawless Night City, while contending with the memories of Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves).
