Path of Exile 2 has a number of quests that appear seemingly out of the blue, and for players who have made it to Act II, they’re probably wondering what to do with the relics they’ve found in the desert. These items are part of Ancient Vows, a simple but vague quest that has left many players scratching their heads.
Questing in Path of Exile 2 mostly boils down to going somewhere and doing some straightforward things, such as finding and killing the Devourer early on. The same is true for Ancient Vows, but the game doesn’t tell anyone what they should do or where they should go. If you want to cross this quest off your list, here’s a quick guide showing you how.

Playing solo in POE2 can be difficult with so many enemies running at you at once; here’s the best class for a solo player.
How to Complete Ancient Vows in POE 2
The Ancient Vows quest starts when players pick up either the Sun Clan or Kabala Clan Relics from the Bone Pits and Keth respectively. To finish the quest, you need to take both relics and insert them into a special pedestal in the Valley of the Titans.
Enemies have a random chance of dropping the relics in the aforementioned locations, and players are bound to get at least one of them while doing the main quests tied to these areas. Getting them shouldn’t be an issue, though do keep in mind that enemies in Act II are very lethal, and players who are unprepared may find themselves dying more often. Keep the basics of Path of Exile 2 in mind, and you should be able to breeze through those areas.
Upon reaching the Valley of the Titans, explore the map until you see the zone’s waypoint. Once you do, search its surroundings, and you should be able to spot an altar of sorts in front of a large statue. To put the relics on the altar, highlight the relic slots as you would items (hold Alt for PC), then drag and drop the relics into them.
Ancient Vow Quest Rewards
The reward for completing Ancient Vows is one of two passive effects that you can freely toggle between by visiting the altar:
- 30% Increased Charm Charges Gained
- 15% Increased Mana Recovery From Flasks
Path of Exile 2’s Charm system augments players’ defenses in significant ways, but the Charms themselves won’t always be active. They use Charges like potions do, and this bonus from Ancient Vows can help you keep those Charms Charged for difficult encounters. Alternatively, if you’re using a mana-hungry class like Mercenary, the increased Mana Recovery from Flasks bonus should do wonders for your quality of life early on.
